This was one of those centres that ‘just growed’. It was started in the early 70’s as a simple crèche to rehabilitate sick and injured seals. It is now a professional scientific research-based seal hospital and is able to cater for various ages of sick animals. All seals are released into the wild after their rehabilitation period. There were not... More

I am a nature photographer and one the themes for this year was the Grey Seal pups (born in december and snow-white at birth). The spotting, vet and care organisation was very helpfull and as usual very professional in assisting me!

I would recommend a visit to this literally charming place. This is a rescue centre and hospital for seals. The opportunity to see seals close up and personal is one not to be missed. The staff are dedicated, the place is informative, and the village has a number of places to get tea, coffee, and a cake! Don't miss it…

These people do a great job. The information is outstanding. We were able to watch two young pups get acquainted with there new living quarters. There was plenty of literature on the tables and walls. There was even a video spoken in Dutch with German and English subtitles. You would have to see it to believe it and understand the... More

It was good to see all the rescue stuff they are foing for these animals. Unfortunately it was so hot that we couldn't finish watching the film info. It was a shame you couldn't get closer to the Seals but understandable

I went there from Groningen and did´t know what really expact from Seal Centre. Seals were very cute but the Centre as an attraction for tourists was a little bit small. One must think the center is primarily "hospital" and not attraction, so think your money is for animal goodness and not your amusement. I have to say that I... More

It was the perfect day to go to Pieterburen for the Seal Rehabilitation centre. Easy to find in the small village in the North of The Netherlands. You can learn much about life and the threats for the sea dogs. They have the animals behind glass and outside so you can watch how they look when they come in and... More

Only four stars as every film is in Dutch only. This seal rehabilitation and research center is about the rescue and release of baby and young seals. However, you'll learn quiet a bit about the (possible negative) impact humans can have in our creation. Once the seals get to this rehab, they'll nurse them, wane them (from humans) and release...
