Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Always get good food here, particularly the pizzas, but the main meals are often too salty. Nice pub with excellent staff.

Food was very good last night in this Shepherd Neame pub, but it used to be excelent. Last visited about a year ago. Has this changed hans since then? the menu wasn't as Italian as it used to be, also the superb Modana balsamic vinegar they used to sell is no longer available, which suggests to me that new management are in charge. The worst thing though was the total lack of any real ales. Last time we were there there was the expected Shepherd Neame selection plus a realy good local guest. Yesterday, nothing. I was told because they didn't sell enough. Well one way to ensure you don't sell enough is to not have it available.... I won't be going back, which is a shame.

After a lovely walk through the Southborough Common, it was a pleasure to have a refreshing Shepherd Neame 'Master Brew' or an equally enjoyable 'Whitstable Bay Pale Ale' Comfortable seating added to the relaxation index of the place. Did not stay for a meal, but the menu looked appealing.

The Imperial is a corner pub on the A26 opposite Southborough Common. We'd heard it served good Italian food, so we tried it out on a Saturday night with friends. The decor and layout is interesting, with various small rooms and areas. It was fairly busy but still had tables available. The food is Italian-based but a bit different in ways that appealed to some of us, but not everybody. Prawns in a thick chick-pea sauce is a good example. It's worth persevering with though as long as you read the menu carefully to understand exactly what you're ordering. The staff are very friendly, and the Shepherd Neame beers are good.

We had a fantastic meal here with our two sons to celebrate my husbands birthday. Really lovely staff - very helpful and genuinely seemed to want to make our evening a pleasure. The food was fantastic - the pizzas in particular were the best we've had around here and the fried breads were SO yummy. Delicious almond semifreddo for pudding. Very generous portions and very happy to provide take home boxes. We will definitely be back.

What a find.
We used to think of this place as a boozer and did not venture into it. But a couple of years ago it was spruced up and this Italian family started cooking dishes from their home region plus pizzas etc.
We were invited to join friends there as they had heard it was good now.
They were right the food was brilliant the service fantastic plus real ales available and s wine choice to go with Italian food. The waitress recommended the wind for us and it was perfect.
We will definitely go back.
