Gigantic Kauri tree, the 'self-healing' tree Said to be fourth largest tree in the world. Fantastic sight, well set out area to view, and local, knowledgeable guide.

A short walk in on well formed wooden pathway. Important to clean footwear on entering and leaving to protect the kauri from soil pathogens. Not to be missed on route north from Dargaville. Tane Mahuta an impressive sight.
