About
The Kranshoek Trail is a challenging but very beautiful trail. Starting at the Kranshoek picnic site at the top of a tall waterfall, then winds its way through the forest down into the gorge through which the waterfall's stream flows. It follows this stream towards the coast and then leads along the coast before going up the slopes to the plateau and back to the picnic site via the Kranshoek viewpoint. Distance: 9/ 4km.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Kranshoek Coastal Walk is a beautiful hike, but how they can have a good conscience collecting 186 ZAR pp at the gate I do not know.

Tracks have been over taken by bushes and stones several places and markings are bad.

However, if you bring good shoes and your path finding skills you will probably not regret it.

I had done the shorter Kranzhoek trail over 20 years ago and was keen to revisit.
We did the full trail which we found very challenging especially after the storm. The trail definitely needs some TLC, not only because of the storm. We are a retired couple and felt quite a sense of achievement having done it but had not appreciated how challenging it would be.

Coastal Trail very much open and absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes hard to follow on the beach so keep looking for the signs (footmark image)

We were told about the view point at the Garden of Eden. Definitely worth the drive to the view point. The hiking trail seems to have been closed, but the view is amazing. There is also a picnic spot.

We did the short hike as well as driving down to the view point overlooking the sea. It's beautiful! And worth the drive on the gravel road to get there.

We did the Garden of Eden walk earlier in the day and the lady there told us that we could use the same entrance ticket to get into Kranshoek on the same day which made it a very cheap way to access two beautiful walks. Facilities at both are good. Well worth a visit to both if you enjoy walking/hiking.

We did the Perdekop hiking trail located in Harkerville (Nature Reserve). This is an easy 9km hike trough indigenous forest. Towards the end there is a small section which requires you to walk on a jeep track but soon you will enter the forest again.

We did manage see a Knysna loerie soon after we started the hike and it sure was worth it.

This is a fabulous hike if you need a break from the sun since you walk in the shade. Just keep going in the direction the horse's nose is pointing and you will finish this hike in no time. I think water is being pumped out of the river and as such the waterfall is really just a (small) tranquil pool and not too exciting.

I enjoyed the forest sounds and the large trees. We did see some baboons but not many birds since the trees are very tall. I am glad we did this hike and I will do it again if I have the time.

Beautiful area - lovely hike including forest and shoreline sections. Footing on the decent to sea quite tricky and we were so busy watching our footing that we couldn't look around as much as we had hoped. Once at the seaside, wonderful expansive views. We took alternate route back to picnic area. Although quite a steep climb there were impressive vistas of the whole coast. Really breathtaking. We were given the park ranger's WhatsApp number in case of emergency/difficulty but didn't have any signal during the hike. Perhaps just not the right carrier? A lovely area, definitely worth exploring. Came back to the same area for zip lining the following day.

Great hike - not too difficult. You can do short or long walks.
Take a costume and some water.
Situated between Plett and Knysna. Turn off at the Sasol Garage.

A great hike around the shore line and hills. Highlights in march were the seals playing and beautiful beaches. Need to be pretty fit. Can do in trainers, but light boots would be better. Takes about 4 hours.

This is a beautiful area, not crowded and trails covered in shade most of the trails. The Flora Trail is a nice trail to go on, easy, and short. You can also do just part of the Coastal Walk trail, you don't have to do the entire hike. There is a beautiful outlook with amazing views that you can drive to, a great place for whale watching! Beautiful and quiet place to hike!
