We visited on a Sunday, the tables are too simple for a wine farm, food was not great, we waited for an hour for a few wraps, the potato wedges tasted like it was reheated, not impressed at all! The wine is great, I’ve had...More

Situated round the corner from my parents house, we visited the restaurant for lunch during the week. Our food platter was divine (with the standard includes- blue cheese, olives , cold meat etc). Blanc de noir was over priced in my opinion - R155 a...More

We had an excellent wine tasting at Altydgedacht. The history was fascinating to hear and they make some wines that are quite unusual for South Africa - like Barbiera. We particularly enjoyed the Viognier they make, definitely worth including in your tasting. We didn't go...More

Well, we went To Altydgedacht because it was the only winery we could find in the area that was open for lunch on a Monday and I really don’t think it was worth the effort. The setting was poor with basic tables and chairs in...More

Love the wines and the casual atmosphere. Kids and dogs are able roam on the grassy areas. Food is delicious especially the vegetarian quiche with its crispy crust and the burgers are excellent. We have visited this restaurant more than once. We will be paying...More

Firstly, this review relates specifically to Altydgedacht as a function venue. Secondly, this review must be read in the context of my other reviews, specifically, that I do not often give negative reviews. That said - the reason for the negative review was the complete...More

This is a nice casual place to go for lunch when the weather is good. The menu is limited but the service and setting is good. They have nice traditional SA food like Springbok pie but it was a bit tasteless. People always bring their...More

It always baffles me when the restuarant at a wine farm charges massive markups on their own wines. Once you reckon in the premiun they charge on (their own) wine, there's better value to be found elsewhere.

Combined a wine tasting and lunch in one hit here. The tasting room is rather gloomy and the tables under the trees were way more inviting. Several tables scattered informally between vintage agricultural bits and pieces. A climbing place for kids to play safely as...More
