Bean Castle - done that
Jun 2019 • Couples
Interesting 13th century castle on which you can actually climb all the way to the roof and be greeted by spectacular views of the surrounding town and countryside. The final climb is up a steep ladder and through a narrow hole, so be warned

Panoramic Views

We were staying nearby & caught the public bus to Posada, which is a pretty Town with little to do. The Castle visit was good though. A steep walk and final climb as previously described. €3 entry fee. A great panorama from the rooftop.

Only worth the effort if you are wearing comfortable shoes

Staying not too far away from Posada, this was an easy must see / must do. Warned for the steep climb, but not wearing the best shoes, we found our way up to the top. The view was lovely, the signs were informative. Even tried the very top level accessing it by a little ladder (not recommended for people with backpacks or pouches). That did not make a great difference in the view, so skip it if you have limited time.
When we were there there was nothing other than the view, but that could have been the time of year (just before the season opening).
Worth it if you don't mind the climb and have limited time.

Walking up to the castle is steep and a bit frightening, but wear good shoes and when you arrive to the top, it’s worth the walk. The view is very nice and if you dare, climb to the top of the stairs inside the castle.

Great view

The Castello provides a magnificent view as well as written explanations along the hike up. It can not be recommended for people who have walking issues. Posada is a truly hidden pearl

it's worth it.Super view from the top. Also there is a bar to grab a beer or a coffee. You need shoes to go up. Flip flops not very good for the walk.

Great views - an adventure getting to top
May 2018
Great views from the top - lots of ladder stairs to get up there, culminating in an actual ladder on the final section. Tricky with small children and not for those who don't like heights. Not good for those with mobility problems either. Lovely little town surrounds the castle.

Awesome

To be completely honest the castle is the only thing of note to see in the town ( I am excluding the beach) its perched high up on top of the hill and offers fabulous views across the countryside and seaside . The views are a great photo opportunity and the walk below the castle through the cobbled streets of the old town are quite spectacular.
The entrance fee is only 3 euro pp so not expensive but its more of tower than a castle, and the the fable of how it got its name ( castle of the bean is amusing ) so I would definitely recommend a visit. However ladies one word of caution, to get to the top you have to climb a short ladder through a sort of manhole, so if you are planning a visit do not a skirt or dress, shorts or trousers are required assuming you wish to retain your modesty.

3Euro per adult to get up there.
Beautiful views, slightly scary open windows in the tower, watch your kid all the time!

Great Views from Top

Great views from the top! You do have to climb up a ladder and through a roof hatch at the top, ideally wear shorts or something under skirt/dress, more dignified when you climb back down! and sensible shoes :)
