I particularly liked this place for the flat rate entrance fee and the rules for interacting with the cats. The cats looked well taken care of and were very active. The food was alright, I ordered a rose tea (which was kind of tasteless) and they were out of scones unfortunately. I ended up with a blueberry cheesecake instead that was decent. Overall, it's a good place to relax and watch some of the cutest cats ever play around. The cafés decor is quite good and manages to make you forget about the busy streets outside. I recommend going in the morning when they open to catch feeding time for the cats. The menu also had alcoholic drinks and entrées like curry so it may make for an interesting dinner as well.

Going to a cat cafe was one of my top priorities when coming to Japan, purely because they're a bit quirky and sounded super cute! However, a lot of the cat cafes I heard about were a bit awkward or dodgy, so I did my research and found this gem.
The cafe was downright adorable, and looked a bit like a fairy's cottage from a story book. If you get a chance, I recommend trying to get a table in one of the two enclosed areas because the cats seem to enjoy going through there. I didn't notice the tables in there until we were already seated.
The cats were very aloof but relaxed. There were a few curled up sleeping next to tables, where a few people would visit them to take photos and pet them. Other ones roamed around and climbed the various obstacles in the room and occasionally stopped to play with a customer's cat toy. There were 10 or so cats out while we were there, and they were slowly rotated out with other cats so they could rest. Plenty of variety in breed and temperament, so I'm sure you'll find the cat for you.
The food and service was also amazing! Because we went on a weekend, there was a 1600 yen (appx $16) cover charge for entering the cafe. However, there is no time limit on how long you can stay and the food and drinks are very reasonably priced once you're inside! They have a large selection of cute drinks and small savoury and sweet items. No English menus, but the lovely waitresses will try their best to help you out (we just spoke broken Japanese and English to each-other, but it worked out in the end!). Everything was very cute and well presented, and tasted good too!
The cafe is a 10 minute train ride out of Shinjuku on the Chuo express line, and about another 5-10 minutes of walking from the Kichijoji station. The surrounding neighbourhood is very cute too, so if you go on the weekend and end up having to wait, you can always take a stroll :)
I would absolutely recommend this cafe to anyone who wants to experience the adorable wackiness that is cat cafes!

The cafe looked amazing and we were excited to visit, however weren’t able to enter as children under ten are not allowed. We didn’t know this so were disappointed. I can see why if the venue has had experience with young children not supervised adequately and bothering the cats - but wish we’d known before our journey there. Hope this helps anyone hoping to visit with younger kids.

If you wanna go to a cat café, you have to try this here. The staff members are super friendly to animals and to humans and the decoration is stunning. It seems to be like a hobbit cave even in the bathroom. Every time your order is ready a little sound like a bird twittering comes up. It is super sweet there. And if you enter after 7pm it´s a little more cheap.

it is cats heaven. can cure the tired heart
very intersting and goof for cat's decoration, there are more than 10 cats living in this cafe, everyone is cute and friendly, quite get use to meet many people, so they are very easy to take photoes, but they don't like to be hug and the cafe don't allowed to hug them, but you can touch them.
the cafe's website has englishe version, so you can see every cat's intruduction, and can reservation, they also allowed just walk in visit.
the entrence fee is depends on the time you visit, after 7pm is hte happy hour, 500 yen per person as far as i remember, you can order fast food and coffe, not cheap but also not expensive, the tast is normal level.
the cafe's location is not vey far from the kichijoji station, on the north west diraction about 10 to 15 min by walk, 3rd floor of a white building easy to find.near ship store and some other shops
the staffs are very friendly and helpful, treat cats also very porfassional, but their english is not very well, so if you can speak some japanese will more easy to communicate.
the cats are very very cute, and seem very comfortable, some big some small, some beauty some not, but all are seem health and happy.
we are really enjoy see them really relax with them and took a lot of photoes,

Unlike other cat cafes, temari no ouchi has no time limit. This is a blessing and a curse because when we got there on a Saturday afternoon, they were full! But the staff were kind enough to get our number and call us when there was a free table. The kichijoji area surrounding it is lovely, so it wasn't an issue to spend an hour walking around looking at shops.
like other cat cafes you pay for entry, and then more if you want food and drink. You eat in the same area as the cats, so they give you a food cover to stop cats from eating it if you walk off. The cats didn't seem the slightest bit interested anyway.
The area is quite big, with lots of different spots fir the cats to sleep and play. They seem quite content, and there's even a high window with a ledge for them to sit on when they're sick of people. They weren't agressive, but generally only liked being patted when they were sleeping.
All in all a lovely couple of hours spent!

My family of 3 (with 12 yo son) went on a Monday in late June. My son LOVED it! Adults thought it was fun and an interesting experience, but probably not something we'd do often. I had made a reservation a month ahead but I don't think it was necessary. We showed up early and it wasn't a problem. The good: lots of pretty cats, whimsical decorations, it's quiet and laid back and is a nice break from exploring. The not as good: the cats were all pretty anti-social unless we had treats for them (small fee for a little cup of chicken bits). It's nice to sit (on pads on the floor) and relax, order something to drink, and watch cats wander around. There were several people with laptops, working or whatever. We stayed about 1 1/2 hours and used it as a rest break basically, while our son wandered around looking at cats. It's just one big room. Wave down an employee if you want to order drinks, take your bill and pay at the cashier at the front.
There's another new cat cafe nearby, apparently with the same owners: Cat Cafe Temari no Oshiro (google maps has it called Kichijoji Petite Mura). It's a few blocks west of Temari no Ouchi. We went there first without a reservation. It has some interesting exterior decoration that you can look at without going in (a cat fountain). It has the same whimsical style decoration, is a bit smaller and the same basic set up.
In both cafes the cats seemed well cared for and had plenty of places to go to escape the customers if they wanted to. None of the employees we dealt with spoke much English, but I think they had info signs in English, or maybe info was in the menu. At both we were told not to feed cats that were wearing collars. I think we had to pay cash at both places. Entrance fee was for as long as we wanted to stay.

We enjoyed our visit to Termari no Ouchi. The cats were beautiful an would let you pet them. Some would wander around more than others and would be tempted by the treats you could purchase for them. My husband and I each had a cocktail and enjoyed just watching the cats interact with other guests. I think what sets this particular cat cafe apart from others is the environment. The space is very whimsical and it's fun to watch the cats climb around on the various steps on the walls & in and out of the little spots to hide. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the Tokyo streets.

This was a cute cafe located about a 20 or so minute (depending on speed) walk from, Studio Ghibli. It's on a second floor of a building so please be aware of signs when looking for this cafe. As soon as you get up to the floor, you will be greeted by a quaint door and signs about the cats.
Once inside, you can set aside your shoes/belongings in the cupboards before being greeted by a friendly hostess. She will tell you the cost (which you'll pay at the end) per hour & per person. It was a bit pricey considering this was only the entrance fee but keep in mind it's the experience you are paying for.
We chose this place mainly for its location but we were surprised to see an adorable and spacious interior. We were greeted by short nosed calicoes, long-haired maincoons and a wide range of cat breeds. The hostesses were friendly and would often bring the cats to your table for brief introduction and gentle petting.
On your table, there's a menu of the available food. When you want to place an order, simply press the buzzer and a hostess will come to take your order. My husband and I both ordered desserts that were reasonably priced but average in taste.
You are free to move around and pet the cats/photograph them. Cuddling & carrying them were prohibited for everyone's safety.
Overall it was a unique experience. Since this was my very first cat cafe, it was pretty special and exciting.

The cat café is full of beautiful cats of various breeds, living in a fantasy-themed world. The cats are not particularly gregarious, but some will tolerate you petting them. The seating is on the floor, with small tables. Unfortunately, the actual café side of this place is pretty weak. The staff are primarily involved with bringing new cats out and feeding them. Although we were given menus that had snacks and drinks, nobody ever came by to take our order. Looking around all of the other tables, only one person had a beverage and nobody had food. We ended up leaving without any to eat or drink. If you are planning on coming here for a meal, go elsewhere. If you just want to see some kitties, this place is fine.

Hi!
I'm really interested in going to this particular cat cafe. How do I make a reservation if they don't take walk in? I don't speak any Japanese.
Written 20 October 2017
you can email them and request for the date and time you want the reservation. You should include the number of people in the party. For example "Hello, I would like a reservation for 2 adults for Wednesday, 1 November 2017 at 12 pm. Is that time available?" The people who check email at the cafe can write and read English so no need to translate to Japanese. This website is not letting me give you the email address to send the request to. Try info@temarinoouchi.kom (correct the spelling) at the end.
Written 25 October 2017
Hi, like to check, is there any time slot need to be there? Is it possible if I could reach at the cat cafe around 1300H
