Historic weir (dam) and area that was used for logging during the Edo Era. Very beautiful natural scenery with a logging display and a monument to the Tamagawa brothers who constructed the original dam way back when. They were awarded the name of the river to use as their own surname as a reward for their efforts. I had to look all that up as there's not really much in English on the displays around here. This place is also the start (or end) of the Tama River 50km Course - a really nice walking (hiking, biking, etc) path that runs from here to the Daishibashi Bridge near Haneda Airport. The walk along the river was the highlight of my afternoon around here. This area is not too far from Yokota Air Base.
