I can’t add much to the existing descriptions of the Vimy Memorial; it’s a touchingly poignant and awesome experience to visit the site. Instead, these detailed comments are intended to help fellow Canadians hoping to make this pilgrimage on their own at some stage, especially if you’re already going to be in Paris. My overall thought is that if you’re... More

This is such a wonderful experience - don't need to sat too much, but it is a credit to all involved and a true monument to all that gave their lives in the Great War. Although a memorial, the privilege to be given a free guided tour and pass underground and see first hand how so many brave men toiled... More

Vimy Ridge is a must see WW1 memorial. It's a real eye opener and a very emotional experience. The guides were all fantastic and so knowledgeable, it was such a special trip and I would highly recommend it.

We arrived in the early morning and took the guided tour of the subway tunnels and trenches. After we walked to the memorial and the Canadian cemetery No.2. It was all very moving and powerful. You can walk along the paths and imagine the soldiers in the fields trying to avoid the enemy shelling and fire. This is a must... More

One of the most moving places we've ever visited. If you are a Canadian and have any feelings whatsoever about the war, this place is a must visit! We visited in June of 2007.

What a stunning, sad, informative place. A must. The tour round the trenches with a guide is free and a must. Our guide was a Canadian student as were many of the other guides. She was so knowledgeable. There were a couple of large school trips when we went so had to wait a little while. The young people from a school... More

Vimy is a remarkable place. It is educational, patriotic and humbling. The tour guides are Canadian university students who give the sincere impression their time there is much more than a job. The tour monument is beautiful and awe inspiring. The tunnels and bunkers make it almost too real. If you are a Canadian travelling in France you must go.

This truly atmospheric experience was one of the highlights of my holiday. I would like to commend the Canadian government for there excellent care of this site. The guide, and all the rest of the staff, was so friendly and welcoming and also very informative showing a real pride in there history. A must visit making sure to do the... More

A beautiful and moving memorial. As a brit with canadian heritage I was very keen to see this memorial. It is stunning. I understand that in recognition of the sacrifices made by Canadian forces France granted Canada the use of a large amount of land. Well, Canada, it's time to return some of it to maintain the integrity of the... More
