Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying at a rancho, EastSky Villa in Playa Amatal and decided to go sightseeing and pick up fresh seafood. It's amazing how nice the Chinese government modernized this place. And the speed they did this!!! Was there in May and again in October and the progress was amazing. What used to look like 3rd world country working pier is now a beautiful area the country can be proud of and tourists should stop by. Plenty of places to get a good meal or cold drink.

The area is relatively safe, seafood is delicious and cheap, the people friendly and welcoming but the lack of garbage bins in the bay grounds combined with the poor culture of the Salvadorean population transforms what can beautiful experience into a repulsive one. Its so sad to see adults and kids disposed coffee cups, plastic bottles, disposable plates and all kind of plastic products right on the beach. It is very sad to see so much garbage floating in the ocean and humans not caring about it. Stay away from this place and don't contribute to ocean pollution.

Malecon impassable to the west due to construction. Early mornings show lots of fishing boat launches and preparing fish for drying.

Definitely worth a trip (we were staying in El Tunco) to stroll the Malecon, drink and eat (seafood was a lot cheaper there than in Tunco) and to see the fish market and boats coming in with their catch. Paid $5 each way by taxi. Would be a cool place to hang out in the evening I’m sure.

Very well maintained, this is obviously the pride of the community of La Libertad. The west end offers the more upscale eateries, and on the east side of the Pier, you will find the more affordable seafood joints. The pier is a busy place, being not only the launching spot for the fishing fleet, but also the main fish market. If you take a walk down to the end, watch out for pelican guano bombs!

Centre of la libertad. City feel, much better than El tunco. Shops, banks, restaurants etcetera. Bus connections

What a great place to see how the artisan/traditional fishing is done in El Salvador. This place is phenomenal for the true seafoodie who wants to buy/barter seafood of all kinds. Amazing fresh seafood and a great experience all at once. Do not forget to try a "Coctel de Conchas" they are the best!
There is LARGE number of restaurants in the are to chose from!

This place has a lot of small restaurants owned by the local people of the town. Their main food is "seafood". I forget the name of the one where we went to eat but it was GREAT!!! and most of those restaurants are not expensive. The view to the ocean is nice. At the the pier you will find a market with all kinds of fresh seafood. People do try to convince you on buying their products. Great experience.

Long strip of fishing vendors with all sorts of catch of the days. Small tables of souvenirs but it’s all about what’s caught fresh
