The Alicante Town Hall is a very impressive building situated in the Old Town. It is opposite a small square where there are a few bars/restaurants - great to sit out and admire the lovely Spanish architecture. Worth a visit if in the area...

Beautiful square with water jets shooting off the pavement. It has a bar one side, orange trees the other, illuminated at night. The town hall building is lovely both from the front and the back that has a stone angel on one window. and faces a little palmed square with lots of tapas bars.

Fantastic well kept building in the old town, just off the Rambla Mendez Nunez. Have a look around the area. there was an ice rink while we were there before Christmas. and a Rastro (Second Hand Fare) on Sunday morning.

The building is extraordinary but the most interesting thing is the constant activities that are set up in the square...in summer there are fountains for the kids to run around and get refreshed, now for winter there is a small ice skating ring, fairs and public attraction events are always set up here as well and New Years is received... The Town Hall is a treasure of Baroque architecture. This is noted more so in the rear of the building which overlooks the Plaza de la Santa Faz. On the 1st floor is the Salon Azul - the blue room which was lavishly decorated in honour of Queen Isabella 11 of Spain in 1858.

I done a walking tour around Alicante, map in hand, up and down the hills, really beautiful city, though a bit hard on foot when it is 37'c+, 16km later, feet sore, sunburnt head, maybe do this when it's a bit cooler. I passed by this place during my little walkabout, had a sit down for five minutes and admired... More

Don't pass this building without going in to see the pictures, sculptures and rooms on the first floor. All in beautiful condition. Says a lot about how proud Alicante people are of their fine city.
