Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As our guide remarked to us during our visit to this site, when history progressed and Spain chose to have one, instead of many kings, there was no need for the number of castles that dot the landscape. So many fell into disrepair, among them this one. At one point in its history it was occupied by Moors, and the remaining towers (two out of the original five) offer a glimpse of the unusual architecture. Instead of being square, the tower is triangular. It’s also very plain, with holes on the sides from the placement of the long pieces of wood which held the blocks in place until they dried during construction.
Climb the narrow steps to the top of the tower (not hard to do, just watch your step) and you’ll be rewarded with some incredible views.
While visiting the castle a look at the church devoted to Mary Magdalene is worth your time. The marble organ is something to see and hear - even though it is still unfinished.
This is a wonderful, historic site which is as popular with locals as it is with tourists.

Adjacent to the Sanctuary so you combine the two attractions. The views are fantastic and the short walks, optional, are great.

Not a lot left of the old castle, we went in conjunction with a visit to the Santuario which is next door. However, its steeped in history, great views, and you have to imagine it how it was in the old days. A great visit all round...

A wonderful ruined castle oozing the history of Novelda with both Moorish and Christian influences. Note a unique triangle tower. If in the area you must visit.

It's largely a ruin but is interesting because of the triangular tower which you can climb and see the surrounding countryside. Don't expect to spend a long time here.

This is mainly a wall of a building. But there is a tower still standing and it is worth it to climb to the top for the views. It is on the same hill as the Church of Mary Magdelena so easy to visit.
