Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This village is like nothing else we have ever seen. We explored it for a little over an hour right at sunset, and the city was a glow. It is not an easy place to get to but the ride there and back is extremely interesting with hiking trails in Roman ruins.

Traveling the path that takes you around the wall is an essential activity if you visit Albarracín. I have done it on the 2 occasions I have visited the village. This time on both sides, to enjoy all its charm. About halfway there is a kind of platform that is a viewpoint, although throughout the tour the views over Albarracín are exceptional. You can see the Torre El Andador, the oldest part of the route, because the wall itself is later. It is very important not to climb the adarve, as it is prohibited for conservation reasons, of course. From several points in the town you can access the trail, although the best is the one behind the Church of the Savior.

Albarracin is probably the most beautiful town in all of Aragon, some would argue in all of Spain but to speak of superlatives when speaking of towns in Spain is like trying to judge a Miss Universe pageant where ever contestant is beautiful in her own way! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and after walking its' streets and enjoying some cold brew with local cheese and charcuterie to gain some sustenance I headed up towards the town's walls.
I eventually found the little path and after about 15 minutes I was walking in the shadow of these immense walls. I thought to myself if these walls could talk the centuries of stories they could tell! I tried to resist looking back down until I was as high as possible, but of course the view was always good and like an incredibly attractive person I just couldn't take my eyes off this fabled town. When I finally reached the highest point I could I was rewarded with a most wonderful view of Albarracin and its' surroundings!
Yes it's true one must be careful and yes I know that those with physical disabilities will find it hard to access but are there solutions to this? Maybe but one must be careful because if you pave the path and put guardrails, maybe a road with a parking lot...well you risk the area losing its' enchantment sorry but we all know that's true. The short hike had me huffing and puffing but I did it and promised myself I need to get back in shape! The walls are just one component of Albarracin, others are its' ancient streets, its' surrounding scenery which at times can be quite dramatic another its' river and the trail that follows it (I'll do that one next time!).
But definitely if you're able to make the effort to climb above the town to see Albarracin's walls and take in the views from above, you'll be happy you did!

Nice climb. Not as steep as it seems. The last part is a little slippery at the top, but not dangerous if you tread with caution. Very nice views from the top. It is not allowed to walk on it.

Breath taking, not only for the views on the village and surroundings but above all because it's not easy to get up there :-)

The town is named for the Hawwara Berber dynasty of the Banu Razin which was their capital from the early eleventh century until it was taken by the Almoravids in 1104.[
You can climb the hill and walk on a tiny part of the walls with great views of the town.

It is a good climb to get up to the walls but once there the view is impressive. You can walk on the walls and enter one of the towers. If you are in shape, take the half hour to an hour to go up, look around, and then come down. You will not be disappointed.

Hard to miss yet not easily reached. Super impressive. Rained all day so the climb was slippery. Wear decent walking shoes because some areas are more rugged and footing can be dicey.

The hike is steep, but not hard. (We saw women in wedge heels and city flats make it to the top! NOT recommended, just saying...). You are rewarded with great views of the city and mountains. And if you're a fan if medieval walls, these are intact and long. Well worth it.

The walls are iconic and dynamic but be warned, the path up to them, although not long, is loose shale, so suitable footwear should be worn and the walls are unprotected and not particularly safe to walk on, in fact I identified the risk of accident or even injury to be quite high, not recommended for the elderly, infirm or children.

Hola!

Written 25 November 2016
