About
A journey through the HISTORY OF RUM.During the Arehucas Guided Tour visitors can enjoy the facilities of our distillery, full of history, tradition and work well done. Besides explaining the process of making our rums the tour allows us to visit one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, made up of 4,308 american oak barrels. This tour through the history of rum in the Canary Islands takes 50 minutes and consists of 5 stages: Origin of Arehucas; visit to the cellar where the ageing process is carried out; learning about the rum processing and visit to the mill and the fermentation and distillation rooms. Visit to the bottling plant and tasting of some of our wide variety of rums and liqueurs. At the end of the visit, you can purchase the Destilerias Arehucas products.

Interesting tour worth the visit 🤩
The tours are organised regurarly during the day - both in English and Spanish- so after purchasing the tickets we just had to wait few minutes for the guide. The tour took about an hour and was really informative. Our guide Bryan explained everyting about rum production. During the tour we even got to see the factory up close. At the end there was also a tasting of their products where each person could try 4 different products. Overall would definitely reccomend the tour.
Dear F2714BGtamarad, Thank you very much for visiting us, for the excellent evaluation, your words of praise and the strong recommendation. It fills us with pride that you enjoyed the guided tour to our century old distillery and with satisfaction that you highlight the experstise and professionalism of our colleague Bryan. We hope to see you back soon. Best regards,

Nice Friday afternoon experience at Arehucas distillery
Wonderful tour around the distillery by very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Alicija! Very good value for money as well, considering that you get to taste four different rums as part of the tour. We visited on Friday late afternoon - Friday is the only day when there are afternoon tours.

    Interesting distillery
Be sure to visit this interesting rum distillery! If you drive, unfortunately you only have to settle for moistening the tip of the tongue when its time to taste different rums. If you arrive by tourist bus, you can enjoy them more thoroughly. Unfortunately our guide's dialectal English made part of his narration impossible to understand but there are, however, lots of English information boards. Lots of rum barrels carrying names of celebrities!
Dear Finflyer, thank you very much for visiting us, for your kind words and your constructive feedback. It fills us with satisfaction that you enjoyed the visit to our century-old distillery and the tasting of our rums. We are allready working on innovations to further enrich the Arehucas Experience and thererfore hope to see you back soon. Best regards,

    Excellent value for money
€7 each for a tour of the premises and four tasters of your choice. Different language groups catered for, interesting tour of the various process stages and open for any questions. The shop is well priced and of course the rum itself is very tasty. The town of Arucas itself is also worth visiting - very picturesque.
Dear Tigerram, thank you for visiting us, for the excellent evaluation and your words of praise. We are particularly delighted that you were fascinated hearing about the making process of our traditional rum. We hope to see you back soon. Informative and worth the money guided tour and rum tasting
Came here for the guided tour in English. Do take note different timings for different languages guided tour and the tour size can be quite huge of 20-30 pax. Arrived about 1130am and was told the next English tour would be at 1230pm hence bought the tickets (€7 per pax, SGD10) and walked around the town. The ticket included a flight of 4 rum tastings (which you could choose from 16 different types). There are another 3 other premium/ limited editions rums which are not included for selection under the tour fee however with addition of €7, SGD10 per glass you could try. The tour was insightful and our guide Maria explained pretty well in English. From the history of this distillery to how is rum made. Also interesting fact to note about why the distillery is called Arehucas and not Arucas. She also made sure she gathered the attention of the tour guide and everyone accounted for before starting her explanation. Highly recommended to try the Capitan Kidd 30 years rum. Aromatic and smooth!
Dear YPSoo, thank you very much for visiting us, for your excellent rating and recommendation and for your detailed and complimentary comments in this portal. We are especially pleased that you describe as insightful the guided tour to our centenary distillery and that you highlight the good work of our team. We are delighted that you took the time to try our Captain Kidd, one of our signature rums. An exceptional spirit that has spent more than 40 years maturing in American oak casks in our premium cellar. We are working to continue adding value to the Arehucas Experience and would love to see you again soon. Best regards,

    Good cheap tour
The tour is 7€ but the value of the 4 rums you get to taste after the tour is probably worth that much alone. As such, it's great value. The tour itself was about 25 minutes, was pretty interesting (I'd probably give it 3.5/5). And then you can select 4 rums from a larger selections, including some 18 year aged rum. Also highly recommend spending the 7€ to try the Capitan Kidd rum from 1983- was amazing. For 7€, this tour experience was more than worth it
Dear josephpM3576XW, thank you very much for visiting us and for taking an interest in the rich tradition of rum in the Canary Islands. We are happy to read that you tasted our Capitán Kidd, a one of kind rum that have been developing inside the American oak casks of our premium cellar for more than 40 years. We do not stop working to improve the Arehucas Experience and we hope that you will visit us again in the near future. Best regards,

    Arucas rum distillery
Very interesting place. Some barrels were very beautifully decorated, some had been signed by famous people, like Juan Iglesias. The guide, Bryan Moreno, told very specificly about making the rum etc. It was easy to listen and understand, very good clear english guiding, for the Finns like us. Tasting included many types of rums; ordinary ones, honey ones, and different flavoured ones. The tour was in total so good. Thanks millions, to Bryan. Love it love it love it. ☺️
Dear 924tuuliar, thank you very much for visiting us and for the enthusiastic words shared on this portal. History and tasting of Rom
It was very interesting to see how the Rom is made. Our quide Bryan explained clearly what and why things are done. And the history of the factory. At the end of the tour we got some tastings and were able to buy over 40 years old rom to taste. Interesting place to visit and see!!
Dear rallyd2024, thank you very much for visiting us and for the great valuation and recommendation. We are pleased to read that you found interesting to see how rum is made and that you point out the professionalism of our staff. We are thrilled that you found time to delight yourself with one of our signature rums, namely Capitán Kidd, a one-of-a-kind rum that has carefully aged and evolved in the casks of our premium cellar for more than forty years. Tour and tasting.
This was at the top of our list of things to do whilst visiting GC and we weren’t disappointed. Short interesting tour explaining the process of rum making before being handed over to another guide for that all important tasting. 4 glasses each but it’s best to share a glass so you get to taste most of what’s on offer. Highly recommend taking this tour.

We (group of 4 persons from Poland) visited this very interesting place on 10th March 2021. We have got a relevant information about historic background of the factory, and detailed description of rum production. Our guide, Miss Alicja Michalik (who speaks flently English, Polish and Spanish) has made presentation in very professional way and in the same time her friendly attitude has contributed significantly to making the visit at Arehucas Rum Distillery a great pleasure for us all.
We highly recommend visiting this place for every tourist. If you got a chance to be guided by Miss Michalik you surely appreciate it.

From start to end I could not recommend enough. Out tour guide Evelien was incredible and then some. She and her team make it all worth while and for just 6€ you cannot go wrong: I would also highly recommend trying the Captain Kidd for the extra 7€ even if you don’t plan to buy - definitely worth trying once. Great experience and would come back again.

The tour costs only 4.80€ per person which is fantastic value!! We were a very small group and the guide spoke in Spanish and English just for us. She was very pleasant and knowledgable. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better! After an interesting tour of the premises, we could start the tasting. As we were the only English, we got a tasting table to ourselves. The rums were explained then we could help ourselves to tasting them all! Such good value!! Trying all those rums made it much easier to choose what we wanted to buy in the shop afterwards. The prices in there were very good value. Much cheaper than even the value supermarket. Highly recommended tour!!!

Interesting tour, mix of a guide taking you around plus a video. Be aware the distillery does not operate on a Monday so you don't actually see it in action if you visit then. Tasting at the end is excellent with the chance to sample 4 rums or liquers and they are good sized measures. We were a group of three and shared the samples so between us we tasted 12 and we had good taste of each. Shop at the end is better value than duty free at the airport, the rum we paid €32 for was around €48 at the airport. Well worth the €6 entry fee, but probably wise to arrive by bus if you want to sample the rum! Arucas worth a walk around too.

26/3/24 Tuesday lunchtime

We three middle aged guys from London were spending a couple of nights in the capital before leaving GC.

I had had a drink from this distillery in a bar in The Jumbo Centre and liked it. The barman said the distillery was close to the capital and worth seeing.

We did not book ahead but aimed to arrive for a noon tour. The bus from the capital was very very slow and we missed the noon deadline but the reception staff said they would do one just for us three!

As it turned out a whole load more tourists arrived unannounced over the next hour so we were a big enough group to do an ordinary tour.

There was plenty of time to have a look at the small exhibition and wander round the car park which has the occasional coach in it. This was certainly a touristy destination!

A woman called Elena rounded us all up and explained the history of the distillery then took us inside. The distillery was not in action in April but we got a good feeling of its heritage and quality, with rooms of stacked, signed barrels by famous people (who don't buy the whole barrel rum for themselves!). The machinery was all immaculate.

Towards the end there was a photo gallery and history which was interesting too.

Of course one draw was the tasting at the end which was about four samples each. Enough to get one a little tipsy in the early afternoon! The selection was between the new fashion odd flavoured rums and more traditional older ones, plus for a few Euros more you could have their famous Captain Kidd finest as a shot!

The tasting room was a bit echoey and open plan so hearing our host above the general noise of the previous tour, still imbibing and chatting, was difficult.

We ended up buying a small plastic bottle of their plain rum which was perfectly fine. I asked if it would be available at the airport and they said yes but much more expensive than at the distillery. We were hand luggage only so could not take any back anyway. Yes it was very expensive at the airport!!

Overall it was a worthwhile experience. If you are coming by bus leave plenty of time!

For EUR 4, you get a guided tour in English (about 30 mins) and a tasting of 4 products at the end. Incredible value for money. The facilities are nothing special - you've been to one distillery, you've seen them all. The products are surprisingly good, I bought the 18y rum to take with me.

Came across the distillery whilst visiting Arucas last May. We managed (just) to get the last tour of the day (closes at 6pm) and in english as well! Our guide - the enthusiastic and entertaining Bryan Moreno was excellent and a great person to explain the history, tradition and passion of this distiller of rine rum. After an interesting and enlightening tour, the tasting - we had a total of eight very different and contrasting styles of rum. So much more to this than a simple musty but fine rum that has been consumed for hundreds of years. This company is innovative, but remember, the vast majority of rum produced here is consumed on the island (80%!!!) probably due to all those drinking visitors, not that there is a problem with over-consumption by those greedy locals! Make the visit when in Gran Canaria. I think it's a must. And if you happen to have Bryan as your guide, you'll definitely have a wonderful experience! Unmissable!!

I had the opportunity to visit the Distillery Arehucas in Gran Canaria which operates in the 3rd generation. Rum is produced from fresh sugar can juice and kept for 36h fermentation until it goes into a colum still to be distilled.
I took the visitor tour for EUR 6.-/person, which was done by a friendly and supportive employee. Unfortunately, the tour itself is more made for a hugh amount of people to get through as quickly as possible and at the end you can try a variety of Spirits. But again, after the first taste a Manager was running to us in a hurry as she required the room/Bar for the next group.
Trying the Captain Kidd & Single Cask 2002 rum was additionally charged with another EUR 7.- /sample. Unfortunately, it was not possible to try a Cask Strengh Rum. Overall it was ok for normal tourists, but not for Rumlovers or Rumneards. In general, the Rum was very sweet. Our guide informed us that all the Rums aged more than 7 years or more have no added sugar🧐 and that gave me a strange feeling when I tasted the 12 and 18 years Rum🤔.
