Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These gardens are virtually deserted. Had to ring a bell in order to pay the entrance fee which they still charge despite the fact that most of it is fenced off and the only other people walking around seemed to be maintenance staff. We were given a map with numbers of specific plants, however most of these numbers were nowhere to be found. All in all a rather disappointing experience.

What a lovely place to visit, highly recommended.
We had slight problems to find the place as there weren't signs to tell where the place was, only a gated entrance a long a winding road.
When we finally found the place, the entrance was blocked by a chain, and the was no-one at the kiosk next to the entrance. We thought the place was closed and were about to leave, when - luckily - my friend head voices of workmen and went to ask them if it was possible to visit the garden. Also we were alarmed to notice that google said the garden was closed although their website said it was open.
We were told to ring the bell at the kiosk (we had thought it was only for calling the kiosk staff) and finally a lady came to open the chain.
The garden is stunning and quite large. There are ponds, fountains and a lot of peacocks, which were prancing about with their tails fanned out. We stayed at the garden a long time. The downside was that the big cafe/restaurant was closed. Snacks and drink would have been nice after a long drive and walking for some hours around the garden. The lady who worked there was absolutely lovely and made us cups of coffee, very nice of her.
Shall absolutely visit again, it is such a lovely place.

A delightful little garden well worth the 6 euro entrance fee. Very rustic and not formal with wild peacocks strutting around displaying beautifully!

Lovely tranquil beautiful place full of gorgeous nature and peacocks and a magnificent Palace. For the small price to enter its a great couple of hours emerging yourself in the botanical nature of Gran Caneria

We paid 2 x € 6,00 to enter this “famous” place, but got quite dissapointed. The Nice folder we received at the entrance showed the position of many many plants and trees by a figure, but the figures were not to be found in the garden. We found many little information signs near the plants, but 90% were unreadable. All in all the garden was not kept up . The shop and the cafeteria were closed, and perhaps the garden itself should have been closed during winter time - or perhaps entry free of charge?

We arrived here on an excursion which had been greatly delayed, so had little time to see the garden. What little we did see was unimpressive. However the include tea was very pleasant, particularly the peach juice. As an unexpected bonus - always the best kind - the nearby Arehucas Distillery had a concession and were offering a goodly selection of their liqueurs and spirits. They were very generous with their free samples and my wife and I bought 2 half bottles as we couldn’t agree on our favourite

It’s clear that this used to be a lovely garden and beautifully presented but that’s no longer true. A lot of the original planting is still there but, unless you have expertise on the trees and shrubs found there, you won’t know what you’re looking at. We’re fairly expert gardeners in the UK but recognised very little here. Many things are labelled but the labels are faded and entirely illegible. There is a (rather poor) plan of the garden with numbered plants but the numbers aren’t anywhere to be seen in the garden.

We thought this a wasted journey and a waste of €6 each. Find your way to the botanic garden south west of Tafira Baja instead. It’s vastly superior. And free.

The garden has almost entirely lost whatever former glory it may have possessed. There is almost nothing to commend it. When we arrived, there were chains across the entrances. Another visitor ignored them and walked in, then beckoned us in from further down the path where he had encountered someone happy to take his €6. We too went in and paid but wished we hadn't.

The place appeared to have had no maintenance or development for some considerable time and there was very little worth seeing. Clearly, plants had once been carefully labelled, but the labels had faded and were unreadable. The garden plan we were given was of almost no use. It showed numbered points but there were no corresponding numbers in the garden.

There were peacocks but their population had grown out of control and we had to be very careful where we walked.

I didn't take a single photo, which says a great deal. We strongly recommend you avoid this place and visit Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo instead (free entry).

Walked from town out to these gardens. The entrance was unattended and the place seemed deserted. Spent about half an hour in vain looking for something interesting for a keen amateur gardener. In general the garden was ill-maintained. Found nothing to justify a visit that maybe the reason we appeared to be the only visitors.
As we were leaving a woman came from the main building saying indignantly we should have paid 6 euros each entrance fee, We did not enter into a discussion as to where and to whom the payment should have been made. A fitting end to a wasted journey.
