About
Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway Is a Heritage railway running from Chinnor Village, on Oxfordshire, to Princes Risborough Town, in Buckinghamshire. We run a mix of Steam and Diesel Trains, with special dates for Cream Teas, Fish & Chip Quiz nights, Murder Mysteries, Teddy Bears, Easter and the School Holidays, not forgetting Halloween spooky trains and the very Popular Santa specials at Christmas. The railway is self funding by an army of totally unpaid, dedicated, volunteers. We adhere to National Railways standards with in-house training courses.

Visited with my older children (30 & 28) as the trip was originally for myself and my what is now my late husband. We did it in his memory. First off, the customer service was excellent in changing the booking to accommodate me under the sad circumstances.
The day itself was brilliant. The train was great and you really felt like you’d stepped back in time. All the volunteer workers were so helpful and knowledgeable on the journey. Felt really spoilt and nothing was too much trouble.
The afternoon tea with Prosecco was delicious and very filling. Delicious sandwiches and cakes.
We did the return to Princes Risborough and back and it took about an hour, which was just enough time to eat.
There’s a lovely little souvenir shop to buy a keepsake from the visit. We were really lucky with the weather so the scenery on route was fabulous.
Would highly recommend going on this trip and having the afternoon tea treat.

Thank you and now you have made me hungry too! Glad it was a rewarding day, the Stewards do their best to make sure everyone has a great trip and our wonderful drivers coax the old engines to give their best.

We visited the railway for afternoon tea my sons 5th Birthday, as hes a big fan of steam trains. The Volunteers were so wonderful from booking through to the day. A volunteer named Les was very helpful at the point of booking and must have past on details that it was my son's birthday as they had decorated the seats with banners and balloons. All the staff/volunteers were so friendly, and made a real fuss of my son, talking to him, singing happy birthday and giving him a card. Robin, Lynda and Keith were particularly attentive and made him feel very special. The afternoon tea was lovely, and included finger sandwiches, scones and cakes and they brought extra as they saw we had children with us. At the end of the train ride, the volunteer took us down to meet the driver and have a photo taken on the footplate. All in all a wonderful day, wonderful service which I would recommend for all ages from children to adults!

Sounds like a great day. Les is everyone's favourite Uncle and has a secret line to the Stewards to launch birthday celebrations. How he does it, he won't tell us, some new fangled thing from the days after the Steam Trains I am guessing. Glad you had a great day

What a friendly little railway! Arrived am and had a bacon bap and coffee at the station. Then went for a lovely walk round area. Back to station for a cream tea on board for Seniors day. Lovely homemade scone with cream and jam and steaming cup of tea or coffee. All volunteers were cheerful and friendly and keen to talk about the railway. The ride although short was absolutely lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

A short but scenic ride through the Chiltern countryside. If you are lucky enough to be on the first train in the morning then deer and hares are a common sight especially if it’s slightly misty.
The volunteer staff are all amazing!

My first visit to this heritage line and I was more than impressed.
As a life long steam locomotive enthusiast (unable to volunteer on them any longer due to arthritis), I visited on their "Special Steaming Day" as they would only be running a limited number of trips with a diesel. As it turned out, the planned diesel service was cancelled ("Hooray" from me !!!) and a 3 hour drive got me to Chinnor Station in time for the first train of the day.
Without exception, all the staff that I had interactions with were polite, friendly and helpful and genuinely cared that visitors were having a good time.
I really cannot speak too highly of the staff and the presentation of the railway. The buildings, the track, the carriages, the locomotives - all obviously well cared for and well presented. Something that is sadly lacking at several of the larger heritage railways that I visit on a more frequent basis.
I thoroughly recommend a visit to this wonderful and friendly line and whether you are a railway enthusiast or not, I'm sure that the staff will do all that they can to make sure that you have a most enjoyable time at the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway.

Me and my husband had a great afternoon at this railway, the journey was very scenic, we loved looking out at the open fields and hillsides. The staff were so friendly and we spoke with Bill, the guard on the train who chatted with us, such a nice man. :) Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Probably my fourth visit in a year and on each occasion I've been left with the feeling of being treated as someone special. Nice comfortable trains with interesting traction edging classic Chilterns countryside, attractive at any time of the year. In any organisation though, it's the people who make it and this railway has got some great volunteers. Today, we even had a travelling magician, excellent

Brilliant afternoon. We were booked on to a steam train plus cream tea, 58 of us. We were very early so as to see the engine and take photo`s etc and the staff were smiley and helpful. Excellent station facilities, shop, cafe, toilets, seating. The whole process from booking, to the trip itself was organisd by an amazing group of volunteers. Replies to my frequent questions were quick and informative. Lots of technical info for those who needed it. Plenty of tea and coffee, with our cream tea which was excellent. I Highly recommend this and know that several of my members are planning a return trip with family.

Great afternoon on the steam train with an amazing cream tea. It is totally run by volunteers who work very hard and are very informative, we had a very nice volunteer called Keith who informed us of the history of the railway, thank you Keith and all your colleagues who made our afternoon very enjoyable.
