About
The Woolpack Inn dates back more than 600 years and stands in the heart of Romney Marsh, surrounded by dykes and reed beds that are home to a wealth of wildlife. A former smugglers' haunt, the pub oozes charm and character, with hops adorning old beams, a large inglenook fireplace and quarry tiled bar. Located in great walking country, the Woolpack Inn is a perfect place to stop and satisfy the thirst and appetite during a day out in the country. Food is taken seriously at this pub. Excellent traditional pub food is served - all fish, meat and game are locally sourced and the delicious mature British beef steaks are always prepared to the individual customer’s taste. The pub also has two large beer gardens with neat lawns, shrubs, hanging baskets, picnic benches and a barbecue area.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Found the Woolpack by chance whilst walking with friends. We were goinfg to go to Brookland but the pub there is now a house, . Been meaning to leave a review since our visit. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. Some nice historic features to the building and a real fire is always a winner. If I lived nearby this pub would be my local!

We first visited this pub/restaurant over 45 years ago and visited from time to time ever since. On this visit during a leisurely return drive home from a short break in Eastbourne we noticed new owners/ tenants had taken over since our last visit. a lot of work had been done, car park had been coated in tarmac, the interior areas decorated and was now very clean, but still retaining the inns vintage charm. We had lunch here and there was a good varied selection on the menu and it was nicely presented and reasonably priced and very nice. The staff we spoke to were very helpful and polite. We will return and certainly recommend this old inn located on the A259 a Brookland in the heart of Romney Marsh

One of our favourite places to reward ourselves for living in Kent and having taken the dogs for a walk and swim at Camber Sands or St Marys Bay.

This is a 15th century pub in the middle of Romney Marsh and is a wonderful reminder of smuggling history. It doesn't look as if it was on much higher ground than what is now around but this must have been the only dwelling for a long way in every direction so perfect for smuggling.

The fire place is huge and you can toast your feet in winter if the pub cat will let you near it. The garden is big but shaded. This pub welcomes dogs too even though it does food.

The beer is excellent and kept well and the service is friendly and efficient.

A word if warning if you are over five feet ten inches tall; wear a hard hat or risk banging your head on the beams. It is an old pub which has moved settled in different directions over the years so sloping ceilings, floors and walls.

It is easy to find on the coast road between Ashford and Rye and is well worth a visit.
