The architecture of this cathedral is very modern and far from the old cathedrals we are used to. I liked the metallic surface and the sweeping lines. It is also interesting to find this cathedral in a country where there are few Catholics.

If you get tired of temple hopping in Tokyo, you should definitely pay St. Mary's Cathedral a visit. It's designed by Kenzo Tange, who is also the designer behind the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku (where you can get a stunning view of Tokyo...More

Equally intriguing to experience it from outside and also inside. It gives a feeling of serenity and warmth despite it's cold, 'brutalist' concrete massive structure. Inside, the structure allows outside lights to create magical feel and ambiance. It is within 12-15min walk either from Gokokuji...More

We travelled some distance especially to visit this Cathedral. We had seen photos of it on the web. It was spectacular in real life. Inside the church was equally spectacular. The only regret is that we didn't hear the organ playing.

This modernized cathedral gives off a very serene yet sophisticated aura. The interior of the cathedral was breathtaking. You can also find a Mother Mary grotto similar to the one existing in Lourdes.

I'm not given to superlatives, but the architect and builders have produced something, which in church design terms, is simply awe inspiring. It is a church design which speaks to the modern age. It's clean lines and angular planes draw the senses and mind upwards..transcendentally...More

I cannot be precise about opening hours but being a church I think you could safely say 9.00 to 5.00. there appears to be administrative staff working there who have offices within the cathedral building. It is open at... More
