Built in 1894, fully renovated in 2009, reopened in 2010. 5 minutes walk from Tokyo JR station, Great place for afternoon tea, very colonial style building, nice atmosphere, excellent services, many local TV series filmed here, very reasonable prices. It has a beautiful garden, great for photos ! They also have Museum, free entrance, it was closed during our visit.

The building is a fantastic relic of earlier days when Western style was entering and being interpreted by Japan. This well preserved structure also is the HQ for the bank, that has built above the original structure without removing the charm of this old Tokyo building. The Cafe 1894 is charming in it's old world bank teller theme. Step back... More

A great museum - the building itself and the courtyard. Always good exhibits. This time, we saw Paris Haute Couture exhibit, which was very interesting.

とても美しい建築物です。作品は入れ替え中で残念でしたが、お洒落なカフェが併設されています。 軽食もお勧めの、素敵な雰囲気です! It is a very beautiful building. Work was regrettable in the swap, but stylish cafe is the hotel. Snacks also recommended, it is a nice atmosphere!

Well-curated exhibition of small paintings from the Prado, 14-17th century. The museum has an archive of Japanese historical objects (text and audio in Japanese). Perfect location near Tokyo station where hotels, restaurants and shops abound.

We stumbled on this hidden gem late in the day on a previous visit to Tokyo but promised ourselves..."next time"! Tucked away in the beautiful Brick Square surrounded by the high rise of the Marunouchi financial district, the Mitsubishi Ichigokan or Mitsubishi Building #1, is the converted original building that housed the company's banking department and the renovations have been... This museum does not have a real permanent collection, but hosts excellent special exhibits throughout the year. It is popular and often crowded. It is ALWAYS freezing!

We enjoyed learning more about the great talent of Japanese artist Kyocai, in galleries the work was accessible and well displayed. The museum is not too large, but large enough to present a meaningful exhibit! Nice location too.

Although the building looks old and located in the middle of a modern city building, this building was the first Western-style office building in Tokyo's Marunouchi district, and was designed in 1894. Look straight 3-storey building which is very noticeable with high-rise buildings behind it. I think both architects shows that the contrast in each era. Interesting!
