The architecture of the Central Station is very nice but there is not much to do in the area. I would only recommend if you have already done everything from your must-see list.

A beautiful building and an incredibly easy train station to navigate. Super friendly staff and a good place to eat too (south court)!

This old building contains the huge station. It can be very busy and a little confusing so just allow plenty of time and maybe do a little research re ticketing first. There are plenty of English speaking agents to help you get a ticket and plenty of helpful staff around. All major information is also displayed in English.

1. Lack of English on ticket vending machines. 2. Lack of English on public communication. 2. Employees cannot speak English. You're on your own. 3. Employees will not help you get a ticket. You're on your own. 4. It's like you're in the 4th dimension. More English and assistance would be better. 5. They should design the train system with... More

As railway stations go, this one is very clean and well organized. We entered from the backside and was easy to find the JR ticket office. It was just but the queue took only about 5 minutes. I witnessed 5 agents at different windows speaking English to customers at different times. Easy to buy Shinkansen (fast train) tickets. Signs are... More

Everyone who lives in Tokyo is there with urgent focused facial expressions energetically moving toward millions of destinations. Despite the focus, a confused look upon the face of a visitor soon finds an eager individual who will help with directions and advice. This can be a nearly overwhelming spot, but friendly assistance is easily found.
