Great place to visit if you love to eat fresh fish or sushi. Choose from a

Top ways to experience The Tsukiji Market
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place, especially in the rain. Delicious seafood. Close to hotels and malls. Short distance by walk to Ginza area.

Worth the few hours of sleep to wake up super early for a long queue. I think we got there around 2.30 and we managed to be part of the second team of the day (there are only 2 sessions daily in the morning) .. phewwwww we waited / or some of us actually fell asleep uncomfortably waiting for our 5.45am slot, and boy was it worth it? Yeah .... every minute spent!
I think they’ve changed the market, i remember reading it somewhere so I don’t know if the auction is going to be held early morning too.

This was my 2nd visit to the Tsukiji Market and I think I'll come here everytime I'm in Tokyo. It's just as colorful, busy, and delicious as the 1st time. No better place to be able to taste the freshness of Japan, from seafood, to fruit, to grilled rice crackers. Must visit!!!

Although the place is already filled with many tourists, the food is just as good and fresh. A great place to find fresh sushi, seafood.
People there are very friendly who take pride in their works and they are really meticulous in whatever they do!
Good place to visit but not advisable to bring children with strollers as some of the streets can be very packed and narrow.

I almost didn’t visit since it was supposedly closed ... so glad I did! One of my favorite Japanese experiences! Walk the stalls and taste the freshest fish ever! Grilled tuna is to die for! You can still see and touch entire tuna fish outside some of the sushi restaurants, taste/buy dried squid jerky from a giant pile or eat fresh oysters and sea urchin. There is so much to see and so many amazing restaurants still operating here — don’t miss this experience while you can still experience it!

In this area all the fish incoming from the harbor used to be sold. This is nowadays replaced, but it still lives here. It’s known for his many fish shops and delicious fish restaurants. I would recommend to visit this area around lunch or dinner and have something to eat here! It is worth it!

If you went to Tsukiji in 2019 you missed it. I was there in Sept. 2018 and was told it was the last week that the auction and all that would be in that location. The stalls and food would still be around, just not the early morning auction. I walked around twice during my stay and ate, looked at all the Japanese stuff that's so different, and ate some more. I bought some really nice knives. They told me that the market was moving but that they were not.

Do they sell live lobsters? Do they sell lobster dishes? If so, what kind? (like boiled, fried, Cantonese style, etc.)

Well, yes you can have lobsters there. But I admit it was not what we tried: I am a big fan of octopuss and sashimi and they were excellent!

Whats the difference between Tsukiji Fish Market and Tsukiji Jogai Market ?!
steve z

Fish market is a huge market for seafood with restaurants on 2nd floor. Jogai market is adjacent and is a market for everything else. Food, restaurants, dry goods, souvenirs etc.

Hello,
I was planning to do the same as you, take a hotel next door just to see the fish market.
But you say it's not a good experience.
Can you tell me more ?
thank you in advance

Saludos y buen viaje
