Top ways to experience Akabane Park and nearby attractions
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Akabane / Itabashi
In Akabane and Itabashi, visitors can get a glimpse of the ordinary day-to-day life of Tokyo. On the east side of Akabane station, there are many traditional shopping districts and small izakayas, while on the west side, there’s a modern shopping mall. Itabashi is currently being developed as a residential area with a huge 1.1km long shopping street that extends from east to west. Rows of shops and izakayas target the down to earth everyday needs of locals. Both Akabane and Itabashi are notable for their easy access to the city center as well as their proximity to Ikebukuro.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying at an apartment across the street for two weeks. This park was very lively and we spent a lot of evenings just chilling here. There's a playground for kids, a bike rack, sidewalks throughout, exercise equipment, cool sculptures, and even a Sunday market (at least during our stay in April!). It was a nice spot to picnic and though it was lively, it never felt too crowded. From the very early AM, you can find folks here doing their morning exercises, young families playing in the afternoon, and teenagers dancing in the evening.
For smokers, there is a smoking pole/area at this park.
