It might be smaller than those big institutions and what you are expected but we had a wonderful time wondering around and were pleased to have found this place in the middle of no where. Building itself was really beautiful nice and light and so peaceful to look at and to be in. Art exhibition and installation was great. Lunch... More

The museum itself is really cool but just be aware that all of the descriptions and captions for all of the artwork is only in Japanese. We went and enjoyed it, but since I don't know a whole lot about art I was a bit lost.

Some interesting Warhol, Hockney and Lichtenstein pieces, however the overall number of pieces was comparatively small. We came especially for the Pixar exhibition, but despite being sold tickets with no warning, we saw the queue lead not just around the entire foyer, but snaking and looping outside! We asked for a refund after finding out that the queue was over... More

I found this museum disappointing. It is small for a major city MOMA. Given Japan's modern artists unique style I expected a much more interesting exhibition. Instead was a not very interesting story of how Japanese artists abandoned traditional silk painting to embrace and emulate early mid 20th century European art. Would have liked to have seen a more uniquely... More

Right now there is an AMAZING exhibition on Pixar. If you like the movies definitely go!! What I wish I had known is that the end of the exhibition has lots of short films and beautiful pictures. I spent too much time in the Toy Story rooms. Arrive early!!!!!!

The place is very interesting, the architecture very peculiar, has something very contemporary and something very Japan, very traditional Japan. Exhibitions cool and the area is full of surprises.

For those interested in contemporary art, I would say it is a must to visit this museum. The collection is impressive. The posess 150 works from David Hockney alone. A fee of them where shown in the permanent exibition by my visit. Very interesting overview of Japanies painters as well. The temporary exibition by my visit is about 30 years... More

At the time of our visit, Pixar exhibition was the main attraction, obscuring somewhat the contemporary japanese art...The building is very harmoniously structured, including all outdoor spaces, gardens and water features. The permanent collection is a good introduction to dissenting voices in contemporary art in Japan.

We really enjoyed this small museum, set in an attractive modern building. The exhibition galleries are spacious and enhance the viewing of the works on display. There is a very small permanent collection. I was not familiar with the Japanese artists but enjoyed their work. There are a small number of works by such Americans as Warhol, Rauschenberg and Lichtenstein--not... More

Unfortunately I found this place to be very soulless and after travelling across the city to see the artwork was a little disappointed when 1 I couldn't take many photos and 2 no cafe, bar or such likes to sit back and absorb.
