We live in Tokyo so this was a day trip during school break. We arrived at opening time at 10am on a Monday when most people are at work or school so there was no waiting but we had just been to Disney the week before so had practiced the art of going at opening time and getting the good... More

Sega has been one of the driving forces in my life, for all of my life (though not so much nowadays, it still is a major influence) and I have learned, felt and met so many people via Sega-related media and hardware, that it has helped mould me into who I am today (along with hundreds of other factors as... I haven’t visited a lot of amusement parks in my life so I can’t really vouch for how typical Joypolis is, but it’s quite fun. There’s a variety of things to do from a rollercoaster that tours the building to a futuristic bobsled game that requires you to be strapped in as you’ll spend half of it upside down! Waiting... suitable for 16+ kids, its a dream come true for gamers, as they can see and play in real life the games they play on consoles

It was cold out, so we thought this would be a fun indoor activity. We soon learned we were too old to spend the kind of money needed to play the games. Also the lines were pretty annoying. And we put more money than we needed on our card, and they wouldn't refund it. We had to use it in... More

We visited Joypolis on a rainy day with 4 kids aged 8 - 15. There are some very cool rides in Joypolis. We opted for the unlimited ticket which included the rides but not the arcade games. This was good value for all except the 8 year old as he only went on a couple of rides and was mostly... More

I did enjoy my time here and it was loads of fun. Though I bought a pass and ended up feeling it was a bit pricey. There is a decent range of things to do and the staff are lovely. I'd recommend this to families with teenagers, it's in a nice area and the trip there is also rather enjoyable.

We stumbled across this attraction when waiting for the Odaiba shopping mall to open and to our surprise we entered into a big kids (and little kids) playground. What caught our attention the most was a poster displaying the virtual reality (VR) simulators; something that we wanted to see whilst in Tokyo. We were able to purchase tickets at the... More

My teenagers loved it. Lots to do in a small space. I thought it was reasonably priced an was easy to get to by public bus.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
