quiet piece of nature in Tokyo. Entrance is on the SE side, closest station is Meguro. There is an entrance fee, number of visitors is limited so it remains enjoyable (if you get in). It is a good place to visit, different from other manicured...More

It is located near Meguro station. The institute preserved a sanctuary for plants and animals which have rarely been observed in the heart of Tokyo city. Although it is relaxing, unfortunately not excited me.

You can walk by this park and not imagine its size or significance. Few tourists consider visiting it but it is worth a stop and a stroll for an hour or so. Quiet, serene, natural, hence the name. Negligible entrance fee.

The Institute of Nature Study is a really lovely little patch of forest in the middle of the city. A lot of the plants were labelled, although it would be good if their botanical names were in the label so plant nerds from around the...More

We went to the Institute of Nature Study as a break from the busy city and was exactly what we needed. I think we were the only tourists there but the locals were very friendly. For a tiny price you can wander the overgrown park...More

I have fond memories of this park when we lived in Shirokanedai from 1998-2000. Thankfully, nothing has changed. They still only allow a limited number of visitors (though I have never seen it full) and it is a very relaxing area in a very busy...More

As a nature lover who normally travel for outdoors experiences this was an absolute treat. Visited the park on a weekday morning and my kids and I had the whole thing more or less to ourselves. There are several paths throughout the park, winding through...More

Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with
luxury residential buildings and the scene is
constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama
park and Togoshi park are great places to see
beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as
well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a
post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish
old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa
