Away from the rat race!

A very peasant environment where the pace of leisure, shopping and strolling is much more pleasant and relaxing. There's always plenty to do in Odaiba.

Very wide open. Many attractions to walk to. Aqua city. Fuji TV, Mega Web. Seems pet friendly as I saw many residents walk dogs and near a park for kids. Good stops for food also. Family friendly with shuttle buses that will take people to attractions around Odaiba.

Odaiba is largely dedicated for shopping. A bit out of the way, but makes a great day trip. Plenty options for food (many that Westerners should be accustomed to) and fun things to do. The view is nice too.

Odaiba ist das sich immer noch entwickelnde Viertel in Bezug auf entspanntes Bummeln kombiniert mit Shops, Malls and food stops. Also one of the rare places in Tokyo where you can access the waterfront - even a small beach is there. There are also a lot of places for different types of sports, like soccer, tennis or running. Nice to... More

Going here from Tamachi station is via Odaiba Rainbow Bus which costs ¥220 per person one way. Same type of bus is also available from Shinagawa station. From Tamachi, it took us barely 30 mins to arrive at Odaiba Aqua City. We had fun shopping at Aqua City Odaiba mall. There are lots of shop that provides DUTY FREE to... More

Nothing special in a way but this little artificial island dedicated to shopping and more is typical of where 'regular' Japanese youth like to spend their Saturday afternoon. Nice walks and easy access with the monorail.

It's a nice looking area which can be reached easily via a ride on the yurikamome line which is quite scenic and provides great views of downtown Tokyo. Would recommend to go here in the evening to catch the fabulous night view of the rainbow bridge.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
