The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Outside Shiodome station there is this big clock, every hour the clock starts a show where the whole thing moves and its very cool, it's definitely worth seeing before you get on the monorail (which is 5 stars itself)

This is one of Tokyo's most modern areas, a collection of skyscrapers housing a number of restaurants, shops and businesses. It is quite amazing to think that this was once marshland on Tokyo Bay but was filled in by Shogun Tokugawa (1603) and then housed the feudal lords. I learned that Shiodome literally means keeping out the tide which is appropo. Visit Shiodome Siosite for your Tokyo Skyscraper photos.

This is not an attractive per say, just an amalgamation of high rising buildings.
The buildings are interconnected and host cafes, restaurants and shops. One of the buildings is the Royal park of shiodome

I visited this area when I was underway to Odaiba, where you have transfer at the Shiodome station. Its an area with lots of skyscrapers, modern shopping and entertainment interconnected by bridges. At the site its also worth to have a look at Hayao Miyazaki's Nippon Television Giant Clock, which provides a nice performance every 30 minutes.

One has a choice of many restaurants in this building. My colleagues and I found them varied in cuisine and good.

We stayed at the Park Royal Shiodome which is amongst the Shiodome Siosite.
Might be special for Japan but similar sites exist in other big cities. Lacking Japanese embracing cement and glass, McDonalds and Taco Bell.
If I had limited time in Tokyo and wanted to have a more Japanese experience I would spend my time elsewhere.

Amazing modern shopping and entertainment interconnected by bridges to make access to hotels, shops, parks etc easier for pedestrians. Lots of innovative and unique architecture to look at. Truly magnificent.

We tried to review Shiodome quarter/neighborhood separately . We did not succeed . So the following is instead :
Taking the train back from Odaiba into Minato ,over the Raibow Bridge (see separate review) , we decided to get off at Shimbashi Station . The reason ? The stunning panoramic view of the buildings and skyscrapers surrounding the station area , AKA Shiodome neighborhood . Google up Shiodome and learn about it . Very interesting , Formerly a Marshland , it is now a paradise of modern architecture and a fantasy land for Photography. No less . So , if you are intrigued by both , and you can spare the time , take a full/half day to walk around in this area of some stunning buildings , multi levels sidewalks and pedestrian bridges . When you get a bit tired there are a lot of restaurants/bars for a coffee/beer/munch break .
The following are places we feel are worth noticing : Nittere Plaza with its Hayao Miyazaki's Nippon Television big clock ; Old Shimbashi Station with its railroad history exhibition ; Carreta Shiodome mall with its museum for advertising ; the magnificent Shiodome City Center complex with its airlines offices ; the Dentsu buiding with its 70 elevators ; the Park Hotel Tokyo , the Conrad Tokyo Hotel and the Royal Park Hotel the Shiodome ; and the beautiful and calm Hamarikyu Gardens with its pond .
Do bring your cameras along , and hope for a nice weather .

You need to catch Yurikamome Line to Telecom Center Station and then walk to the onsen. It is close to Odaiba
