Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took a little afternoon side trip to this park from Shibuya. Nice break to the hectic citylife in central Tokyo. During my visit the plum trees had just started blossoming and the area was filled with visitors. The park by itself isn't anything too special, but the plum trees really make it a place worth visiting.

Just 1 station away from Gotokuji Station where where a lot of tourists goes to visit Gotokuji Temple.
I enjoyed my time there, strolling and taking in the plum blossom sights. It was a lovely garden for people to come together.

Cherry Blossom viewing is popular in Japan but so is Plum blossom viewing. After a little research we decided this was the place to see it. A short trip from the centre of Tokyo to Umegaoka Station (aptly named as plum is Ume in Japanese) and a two minute stroll brought us to the park which had lots going on as it was the weekend. Food stalls offering all things plum like Umeboshi (pickled plum) plum tea and drinks. Lots of people photographing the blossom and strolling in the early spring sunshine. Several people painting the blossom too. Blossom was pink and white and a beautiful sight. Quite a small park but a nice way to spend a morning.

I visited Tokyo on the first week of March- no Sakura for me, BUT plum
blossoms blooms a month before! So if you're here early and will miss the Sakura period fret not, go to hanegi park! It's a beautiful collection of different plum blossoms of many different Colours. I spent an hour just looking at taking photos of the flowers. Totally worth it even though it's a very small park compared to the popular ones. If you would just walk through it, it'll take you barely 15 minutes.
Disclaimer- I'm a huge flower fan. It's a short walk from the nearest train station

February/March is the season of the Plum blossom in Japan. Hanegi Park holds an annual festival to celebrate the occasion and many Japanese come to enjoy the trees and the food.

I recently moved to Tokyo and I have already been in Hanegi Park twice. It is such a wonderful place to come and have a relaxing time. I would especially recommend going with children as there are lots of different playgrounds for all ages.
As most places in Japan it is kept clean and tidy although trashcans are hard to find - so remember a trash bag for your trash.
Inside the park is a very small convenience-like store to buy drinks, snacks and ice cream. Ice cream prices are from 130 yen. There is also an ice cream cone-truck, that sells ice cream starting from 300 yen.
There's also vending machines with soft drinks and ice cream at the convenience-store.
If you come in the weekends you can enjoy a amateur baseball match on the baseball field.
There are many seats and benches so one can sit and relax and the park is also accessible with wheelchair.

The park is located on a hill close to Umegaoka Station of Odakyu Line (10 minutes from Shinjuku Terminal). This park is famous spot among local people during plum blossoms season (February) and azalea season (May) and many people visit the park looking for the beauty.

Make sure you pay a visit to this park around February. They held an annual plum blossom festival, known as Setagaya Ume Matsuri. This park has around 650 plum trees.
When the festival is held, there will be some events in the weekend. I was lucky enough to see the mochi making events and got free mochi! It will be kinda crowded in weekend. You can bring your own mat and have a plum blossom hanami there.
I posted my experience there in my blog, you can visit it for more details :)
