Fantastically futuristic, but steeped in tradition; Tokyo is a neon-lit contradiction that flashes by in a blur. The Aperture Tours plunge head first into the craziest pedestrian crossing you've ever seen and continue into the back streets of Shibuya before giving you fantastic opportunities to perfect your street photography with the eclectic youth fashion of Harajuku.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Aperture night photo tour Tokyo.
I went out for the evening taking photos with Ivan from Aperture Tours. It was the most valuable experience. Ivan showed me how to shoot the night in Tokyo… reflections, panning, crowds, neon lights. I came away inspired by his creativity. In addition I have a collection of images from Tokyo that I will treasure .
Highly recommend.
Thank you Ivan.

I had a wonderful evening tour with Aperture Tours in Osaka. Irven was excellent; he customized the tour based on my needs. I was looking for a street photography session and wasn't interested in postcard photos, and he accommodated me perfectly. We even explored lesser-known neighborhoods that were more suitable for this type of photography. I highly recommend this tour because it was a great experience and also very useful for me to learn some photography tips and tricks. Thank you, Irven!

I did the Kyoto Street Photo tour with Irven. He's a great teacher with wonderful energy, and is extremely generous with his time. I received a questionnaire before the tour asking about my goals, and then Irven sent along an itinerary the night before the tour so I could read up on each site and follow along during the day. He made sure to match the shots we took to the goals I'd mentioned in the questionnaire. After the tour, I received a link to a set of notes with some extremely helpful information. I would definitely book more tours with Aperture!

Great tour. It was my first time doing a workshop/tour with someone local who knows the spots and can teach me new techniques and approaches to the scene. Irven knew the right spots how to approach them and what time of the day. We started with a bit of landscape photography and then moved to some street shooting. He pointed me at points of interest, light that creates an interesting composition with subjects moving in, and hinted at trying several different techniques such as going vertical, long exposures, silhouettes, and "surprising" street photography.
I already knew the basics so we dove straight to research composition and interesting subjects, but I suspect that novices and professionals could, respectively, benefit from the tour by learning how to use the camera in diverse situations or getting to the right spot at the right time.
Highly suggested. I'll look into other tours for my next trip to a different city I'll visit soon.

I had the pleasure of doing a (night) photography tour with Ivan in Tokyo. He is a brilliant photographer and moreover a great guy who makes you feel welcome from the very first minute.
Ivan definitely knows his way around the dazzling areas and alleys of Shibuya and Shinjuku. Besides, Ivan gave very useful advices with respect to camera settings and photography techniques. He really wants you to go home with the best possible photographic outcome. 100% recommendation for photography lovers who make their way to Tokyo.

Another one for the books. Aperture has never let me down. Ivan is an experienced photographer with a great personality. He didn't make things over complicated either. He understood my needs and delivered a custom tailored tour. I was able to access several off the beaten path locations for our night session. Thanks so much mate! I'd be sure to tell my friends to specifically request you on their upcoming trip.

I've been in Tokyo a few days for business and I took the opportunity to spend one night around this amazing city with Aperture Tours. I met with Ivan, one of their photographers, around 19:30 and we spent 3 hours photographing the areas of shibuya and kabukicho.
I've had so much fun!! Ivan is a very nice guy and a great professional! He shows an incredible knowledge of the city and is very keen in showing you all the right spots and tecniques in order to get the best shots! I sincerely recommend his Tokyo night tour and I'm refer to Aperture Tours again next time I'm in a city I don't know and want to explore with a professional!

I just want to help everybody who thinks to make a Photo Tour in Tokyo. There is another Company working there. Half the Price an much more Empathie during the Photographic time, and you geht definitly more pictures to take Home. I did Six ( 6 ) phototours during my Trip round the world (10 month) and this was for sure the only one which was disapointing.

During my tree day visit in Tokyo I booked a day and a evining phototour with Aperture Tours. Each tour lasts for around tree hours. It was inspiring to walk with Lee the streets of Tokyo. He showed me many attractive places to take pictures. During the walk we had always a nice conversation about different topics so time flied by. Lee gives you tips how to improve your shots or just to try an other angle. With Lee you get a guide, a teacher and a nice conversation partner.

I did the 2.5 hour night time photography tour with Giovanni. We met up just before the appointed time and had a quick beer while Giovanni checked my knowledge and importantly, what I wanted to get out of the session. As I am just starting to get into Street photography that is what we focused on (excuse the pun) and Giovanni took me to some ideal locations and helped develop my eye and improve both my composition and my technical knowledge. We visited about 5 different locations, all of which were interesting in their own right but more importantly excellent for street photography. Giovanni was very knowledgable, patient and helpful and I learnt loads and came away with some good pics, but more importantly improved technique which helped me the next day when I put into action what I had learnt at the Tokyo fish market. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour, it was good fun, good learning and good value.
