Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

- misanthropicdreamerSan Francisco, CaliforniaVery Cute but Also SadMy daughter made reservations ahead because it is popular and you only get an hour. The place is clean and they have a variety of hedgehogs in medium plastic see through cages (as well as a few in too small cages underneath). There are also mice. You are given special gloves and instructions on how to feed and handle the hedgehogs. My family was very careful to follow the instructions and be gentle with the animals. My kids got to feed them pellets and worms which the hedgehogs seemed to enjoy. They are adorable. However I would not recommend bringing small or wild kids here. While we were there an Australian family with several boys permitted them to completely disregard every rule and run around with the poor animals. One boy dropped a hedgehog on its head! I was horrified. These are nocturnal animals and I’m sure being the center of attention during the day is stressful enough without being harassed by people who can’t follow simple instructions.Hello. Thank you very much for writing your valuable review! Please forgive me for the late reply. First of all, let me apologize for making you feel sad. We will do our best to support customers like you who treat animals with kindness. We will take appropriate action in the future for customers who do not follow a small number of rules. However, all hedgehogs living in Japan live with humans as pets, so they sometimes wake up during the day to eat, run around on wheels, and play. That's very interesting. The staff were fantastic, went out of their way to show us around and check in with us occasionally to make sure we got to experience everything. - SchnorrerSan Francisco, CaliforniaSuper Cute!Adorable hedgehogs that you can interact with and feed, very nice and helpful staff. The animals seemed well cared for and loved. Definitely worth a stop. As the room can accommodate only a limited number of visitors, reserve your visiting time at their website (this is not hard, same-day and next-day reservations were easily available).Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2024

Went here for the first time with family and overall, we had a good experience.
Hedgehogs are cute and adorable. This was a unique experience that I highly recommend if you are an animal lover and haven't experienced it before. Place is not that big and because of that I highly recommend reservation just in case. Staff are polite, friendly, and professional. They also speak reasonable English. They also have free basic, non-alcoholic, self all you can drink kiosk which is already included in the admission price.
Reasons why I took 2 stars off are because their price is on the higher side. There are other places in the area which are little cheaper for pretty much the same experience. The other main drawback is that they charge for each and everyone in the family whether you will play with the hedgehog or not. As long as you enter the shop and are not 3-year or under, you have to pay the full price! Also, there is no adult or child price - everyone pays the same price!

Hello.
Thank you very much for writing your valuable review!
Please forgive me for the late reply.
We are so happy that your family had a great time at our cafe!
As you said, our cafe does not have a reasonable entrance fee.
This is because it is difficult to provide safe and secure food for the hedgehogs and to secure excellent staff with a reasonable admission fee.
In particular, young children may need more support than adults because they are still beginners when it comes to interacting with animals.
We have a duty to ensure both your safety and the hedgehog's safety.
We believe that this is a necessary process.
With your valuable feedback, we will continue to strive to provide a better experience to our customers.
thank you!

This is a friendly “cafe” featuring hedgehogs and tiny mice that you can feed and handle. The young people on the staff are warm and welcoming. The hedgehogs themselves vary! They are nocturnal creatures, so left to their own devices they’ll be asleep during the day. They will wake up to be fed worms and food pellets and you can hold them on your hands (with gloves or without, depending on your level of comfort). We arrived when they open at 1pm and the cafe was empty, which allowed us to play with several of the animals. It filled up as time progressed. Even though it’s called a “cafe” there is no food served, but drinks from a machine. The kids had a good time!

However, all hedgehogs living in Japan live with humans as pets, so like diurnal animals, they wake up during the day to eat, drink water, and play with the wheel!
That's very interesting.
We apologize that our "cafe" does not have human food.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, so you can order delivery pizza and eat while watching the hedgehogs!
Please try it again if you have a chance someday.
I sincerely wish your family health and happiness.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and almost as adorable as the hedgehogs and baby mice. The rates vary depending on how much time and interaction you want. So it’s very flexible. The cafe is in one of the most exciting areas of the city. I’m so thrilled we stopped off here.

We had an amazing time at Chiku Chiku Cafe! We were visiting Tokyo with our 9 year old daughter and heard good things about this hedgehog cafe. So glad we visited! The employees were friendly and helpful. They set us up with two hedgehogs and gave us tips on how to interact with them and then let us enjoy our time with “Hanada” and “Peperon”. There were unlimited drinks (tea, cofffee, water, that kind of thing) we could sip on while we were there. The employees explained to us that while hedgehogs are nocturnal they have like 16 (I don’t remember the exact number) so they rotate them in and out to let them get good rest. They seemed to care about the hedgehogs and their well-being - they looked well taken care of. At the end of our half hour the employees all helped us snap adorable pictures to remember the uniquely Tokyo experience! A+, would visit again!

Chiku Chiku Café offers a delightful experience where you can interact with the cutest hedgehogs. The staff is knowledgeable and ensures the little critters are comfortable, making it a must-visit for animal lovers in Tokyo.
Visiting Chiku Chiku Café was a charming experience. The hedgehogs are adorable and well-cared for, and the café provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy some peaceful time with these tiny creatures. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Gorgeous place to visit. About a dozen hedgehogs for you to hold and feed.
FYI apart from coffee and tea the café experience is more for the hedgehogs which is so cute you get to feed them worms, but don’t expect any food service of your own lol.

Such a fabulous place. Chiku Chiku lets you hold some very cute hedgehogs and also feed them if they feel like a snack. I booked in for an hour and had a brilliant time playing with a few hedgehogs, one had a nice long snooze in my hands. Highly recommended.

Hello!
You can visit without having to make a reservation.
However, as the weekend is so crowded, waiting time may occur.
Because reservation will only accept 60 minutes course, those who wish 30 minutes course should come directly to the store!

Dear all,
I am interested in visiting a hedgehog cafe. However I am wondering about the welfare of the hedgehogs. Are they limited to one space or can they run to a shelter to hide if they are afraid? Do they also have shifts? Because they are nocturnal so they might be sleepy.
At the end of the day, I wouldn't enjoy an experience where a hedgehog to be forced to be pet. I would rather the hedgehog have his/her space. I wouldn't mind not petting it as running around some big space is sufficient for me to enjoy my coffee. Thanks!
Regards,
Gideon

I am sorry for the delay in my response.
We also thank your pointing out the very important matter about the hedgehogs' welfare.
We run our shop with the breeders' and vet's consulting on the hedgehogs' safety and health care.
Our 30 hedgehogs are with costomers every other day and each one takes good rest in the private cage at night.
Each one can run on the wheel at night to do some exersise and get rid of some stress.
We are sure to trying makig the best efforts for the hedgehogs welfare, but we listened sincerely to
your opinion and will work harder to give them better conditions.
We would like to thank you again for giving us a good chance to think about our policy once again.
