The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved this "alternative" department store in the Shibuya area. We started at the bottom and worked our way up. There are scores of small "shops" that cater to wildly different styles and tastes - all of it for a trendy and young demographic. From 19th century-inspired capes to corsets and kinky leather, it's all here. This is where you can really get a sense of the depth and breadth of Tokyo's fashion scene.

If you have time and absolutely love to peruse and shop, this is the area for you. There are a variety of shops targeted for the 20+ age range. You'll need a few hours to get through everything.

Loved browsing the shops here. Fashion that may not appeal to all countries or people (must have confidence to pull off a lot of the looks) but managed to find a few good buys. So many levels (don't forget the basement levels too) and lots of shops. Loved it.

Came here with my daughter and we had a ball. The variety of clothes on offer from local designers is amazing, and it's fun just to enjoy the creativity on display. Some international brands too, but the local varieties are more affordable and also more fun. Go to Parco in Shibuya to check out the really high end brands, but come to La Foret to buy things all your friends will want when you get home. 'Kobinai' is especially great - and with lovely staff. Highly recommended!

Just one of many shopping malls in the area and doesn't offer anything special. Not worth it unless you're in the area and love shopping.

This is floor after floor of pricey hispster-ish fashion and acessories with some food thrown in. It was fascinating to look through but be aware that it's absolutely packed, there are long lines for every bathroom, and some shops do not allow photo taking. This is definitely worth some window shopping if you're in the area, but unless you have a lot of money to burn and very specific taste you're not going to be doing any heavy shopping here.

I went during the grand bazar annual sale in July and it was full of energy. There were lots of people yelling about all the amazing sales they had. Go here if you want to see lots of wacky clothing stores, especially on the bottom floors.

Liked some of the original
labels in this funky shopping centre. Had a great food court too, and open style market shops with interesting wares. Great place for a wander and a quieter place for lunch.

Great spot for a teenager. Small boutiques dotted about make it a fun place. It is crowded on weekends, so be prepared for Tokyo overload.

This is a mid to high end shopping complex consisting of seven floors of fashion boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants. Overall, the boutiques tend to be targeted towards young women. The top floor is used to host various events and exhibitions. Good for those who loves shopping or window shopping,
