Top ways to experience Shibuya Hikarie and nearby attractions
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

It was worth a detour up to the 11th floor of the Shibuya Hikarie store as the views of the Shibuya Crossign and the 3D boards were in full view from the windows. In addition, the three 3D billboards where the Akita Inu occasionally popped out at once could be challenging to watch if you were at street level as you need to look up. The Akita Inu would pop his head in/out, jump from the screen and announce the time and appear to want to jump out of the screen. It was quite a show to watch the 3D billboard shows while simultaneously watching the crowd of people crossing below and all the way to the Shibuya 190 building.

It’s a shopping mall near Shibuya station. We walked to Shibuya Scramble Square, took the escalator to 2nd floor and crossed a bridge to reach the Shibuya Hikarie. We had dinner at the 6th floor for 2 days because it wasn’t crowded and no queue. It’s highly recommended if you want to be away from the crowd.

For me it looks like a glass lego brick building hehehe. Very modern outside and very highlighted in the landscape, Turing the day time it appears more due to black colour. It is a nice place.

I typically stay at the nearby Cerulean Tower Hotel when I'm in Tokyo for work, but I only recently discovered this fantastic new mall, which is great for travelers staying in the Shibuya area.
For one thing, the Shibuya Hikarie offers tons of dining options: Sit-down restaurants on the 6th & 7th floors plus two floors of excellent food courts in the basement. And it's these food courts that I think seasoned travelers will appreciate most.
The B2F level features all manner of sweets, ranging from Western to traditional Japanese confections, while the B3F level offers tons of tasty and inexpensive food options. Best of all, this lowest level includes a small but excellent grocery store where you can stock up on provisions. I pick up soy milk (which I stash in my room's mini-fridge), peanut butter, crackers and other snacks to help tide me over—and save money—during my stays.
In addition, either the B1F or 1st floor includes a small drug store, where you can pick up any toiletries you may have forgotten. Or, for even more options, head up to the Lawson convenience store (kind of like a bigger and much nicer 7-Eleven) on the 11th floor, where you can find, among many other things, endless varieties of packaged ramen. And, while you're up there, you may as well stop at the Sky Lobby, which offers expansive views of the Shibuya area.
You don't even have to step outside from Shibuya Station to get to the Hikarie. Both an underground walkway and a 2nd floor Sky Bridge offer direct access from the Station, though you may have to ask a friendly local for directions as navigating Shibuya Station can be a challenge. But the mall offers a rare opportunity to re-stock provisions and get a good, inexpensive meal in central Tokyo, so I think it's absolutely worth the minor effort to find it.

Year 2017 market the 5th anniversary of the Shibuya Hikarie, at the prime location of Tokyo, Japan. I have come to this place a lot for 3 reasons. First, there are always some surprisingly good, free-of-charge exhibitions on Level 9. Just like today, we visited a local photography show featuring young, talented Japanese photographers. Don't miss Level 8 where you can make a visit to the local Japanese handmade puppets as well as "D47", a modern marketplace where you can shop seasonable products or handcrafts from those 47 prefectures of Japan. Second, foods. Lot of good restaurants can be found at Level 6 and 7, and most of them offer English menu for non-Japanese speaking tourists. Third, happy shopping. You can find some international and local brand names at Hikarie. As a tourist, I'd suggest you asking the boutique shops at Hikarie whether they offer tax free for tourists directly at the shop or the tourists have to arrange tax refund at Level B3. Overall, Hakarie is a nice shopping place for tourists - and don't forget to take photos from Level 9 or Level 11. Beautiful sunset. Beautiful overlook on Shibuya where Tokyo is going to launch its mega transport hub for Tokyo Olympics 2020. Can't wait to visit this place again.

Excellent view of the scramble crossing and of the neighborhood from the 11th floor. Just take the elevator up, it's accessible free of charge.

We mainly explored the food court at the new Hikarie department store in Shibuya. They have two basement floors. b3 has various food stalls while b2 has sweets galore (Joel roubouchon, macaroons, etc). There's also two levels of restaurants on floors 6 and 7. Also, you can go up to level 11 for an aerial view of shibuya. I actually found a better view for photos on the 9th so check that out too!

Shibuya Hikarie is worth visiting not just for the shops, but also for the amazing restrooms. They are beautifully decorated, with an individual theme for each floor, and include not just toilets but also a make-up area and nice comfy seating. So relaxing after a busy day's shopping!
I also liked the shops here. Some of them were expensive, sure, but there are some beautiful fashion and homeware stores. The basement has a foodhall selling both Japanese and European foods. I particularly liked the macaroons with Japanese flavours such as yuzu and matcha.
I would definitely go here here again.

Sure, Shibuya Hikarie has all of the usual suspects in a shopping mall. It also has good dining choices in the 6th floor, Unagi, Tonkatsu, to name a few, and a great theater on the top floor, where we were fortunate to view Evita.
