The Tokyo Government Buildings is worth visiting, has free entrance and nice panoramic view on the city from 202 mt height from the observatory.

We visited this for a birds eye view over Tokyo area. The building was easy to find and clearly signposted from the train and metro stations. The observatory didn't do much for me and I think the one at Tokyo skytree might potentially offer a...More

It's hard to beat two towers with observation decks on the 45th floor that's free. There are gift shops on top and plenty of signage so you know what you're seeing out the various windows. You enter the elevators from the lower level (there's a...More

The architecture of the building itself is worthy. However, it's claim to fame is it's free (in fact, two free) observation decks at the top of each tower. And with almost no line and no hassle to go up either. And convenient to get to....More

I'm not sure why it says the observation desk is open until 18:45 on trip advisor as when I went 5 days ago it is open until 23:00 with the last entry at 22:30. Anyway, the observation area is 100% Free to go up and...More

Visited in December and went to the viewing gallery. It's worth a visit for the views of Tokyo and it's free to get into too! Win.

Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and
contains the busiest train station in the world. To

Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the
east, there’s a district with long-established
department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku

Both are good. (if I remember correctly) northern one is better in the evening/afternoon because of the sunset.

Trip advisor says Mon-Fri until 6.45pm but .japan-guide.cm for example says North Observatory: 9:30 to 23:00 South Observatory: 9:30 to 17:30. Can anyone confirm the correct opening hours? I'm guessing the non TA times as I've seen people talk about going at night.
