We went to Namjatown primarily to eat at the gyoza restaurants. However, we had to pay an entrance fee to enter and eat there so we decided to walk around. There were different exhibits but we could not understand any of it because it was purely Japanese. We just started pressing buttons and things started to move or scare us... More

Saw the advertisement via websites and leaflets as they offer different theme in certain interval. I chose the entry ticket only (photos from websites shows most for children attractions) cost 500 yen. For the Halloween theme they adopt haunted neko village and most of the game involves ghosts character. I tried the sorbet at the food area and it was... More

We wandered through for the Halloween decorations and the limited Godzilla menu they were doing, but only because we were already in Sunshine City. Cute if you know anything about Namja, still not the worst little walk around if you've got kids or time to waste.

I was in Ikebukuro and thought I should visit the gyoza stadium at Namjatown only. There was many gyoza shops all right next to each other, i just ate at three of them and while they were good, the gyozas seemed like the frozen types. If you wanted to go namjatown, don't go of you're only going for the gyoza

No English, lots of anime, lots of children, lots of ice cream and lots of dumplings! All in all pretty overwhelming, but the dumplings were great and if you were prepared to queue to give a game a go pretty good fun. Try shooting the mosquitoes from pig cars! Located in a mall with Pokemon stores etc so a good... More

This place only caters for Japanese people. If you don't know how to speak Japanese, you can't appreciate the place. You can avail the ticket (¥500) for just visiting the place or you can avail the ticket wherein you can play the games inside which are insane. It's like you're catching a Pokemon monster. Lol Most of the attraction or... More

You can pay for an attraction ticket or just an entrance fee, which I did, at only ¥500. Well worth it! A good way to kill an hour or so.

I went here with other families with kids in the elementary school age range. One of the parents fondly remembered going as a teenager. It is more like a theme park housed inside of a larger mall. We bought the all encompassing pass (about $30 per kid), which allows kids to participate in all of the games. Some were adventure... More

My teen daughter loves gyoza, so a visit to Namjatown seemed like a great choice. You have to pay to enter, as there are attractions other than just the gyoza stalls. Unfortunately, there is very little English, so we couldn't really grasp what the other attractions were about. The gyoza stalls offer variety, but the prices are inflated by as... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
