Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well lets get the elephant in the room out the way, the seating, is well at first a little odd, tables with up to 6 chairs around them, this was ok if you were not in a group of 6 otherwise three of you would have your back to the others, it also made getting up and out to the toilet a bit tricky as movement was a bit restricted due to people around us manoeuvring their chairs around, but its not a deal breaker, it works for the venue then so be it.
That said the venue was. eclectic, interesting, nice and airy with the added bonus of having air con, well done you!
A good size stage, sound was fine, plenty of fee on road parking nearby.
The jewel for this venue was the table service, a brilliant idea, no queuing for the bar, wave a flag a nice member of staff appears with a tablet takes your order blips your card and a few minutes later your order arrives, didn't bother queuing at the bar during the interval just give it 5 mins for the show to start again and hoist the flag!
I was surprised there were no stewards in the hall during the performance, with the availability of free flowing alcohol before and during the performance there were one or two who well, let the inhibitions go a bit and if at some other venues may have been asked to calm down a little.
I was sceptical when we arrived but will certainly be returning for another performance at some point, its a bit of a gem really.

We first attended The Pavilion Theatre to see The Chorus of St Cecilia several years ago. We were absolutely blown away by this little gem, and were so impressed by what we found we’ve become Friends. It’s the most elegant of buildings, lovingly restored with some of the best entertainment for miles around. Inside is set out cabaret style with tables and 6 chairs, seating capacity about 300. Pre ordered drinks are waiting on your table but the bar is available if you want to use it. Usually there’s a charity raffle. We think ourselves so lucky to have this little gem just 20 minutes away from home. We can’t praise it enough.

Family theatre at its best. Thank you to all the staff that made our evening so special. Great show. Loved the building, so good to be once again in an English seaside theatre.

ABSOLUTELY VILE! After our transport did not turn up we tried to call the pavilion to get no answer for 30+ minutes! We then finally got a response from a vile man called Stuart! He was disgustingly rude to my mither in-law on the phone basically blaming her for not being at the show on time! And then told us that we were not getting a refund! So not only did myself and family and friends not get to see the show we were spoken to in an abusive manner and now do not know if we are going to get our money back! This would of been our last show together as a group! And it was completely ruined!!

Better organisation, staff should be polite and not aggressive on the phone when they finally answer it!

As we were staying at The Pier Hotel we looked to see if there was a show on at the theatre. There was. 'Musicals from the West End & Broadway'.
This is a very historical building & unusual as you book a table rather than sitting in rows, which really appealed to us. Drinks are available at the bar to take to your table.
Staff were very Accommodating as a mistake had been made (by us) & we were able to sit in a more suitable position for which we were grateful.
Tickets were very reasonably priced at £12 each.

Just attended the opening night of ‘Pantostein’. What a fab panto - great cast and fun storyline with some memorable songs thrown in as well.
The theatre itself has tons of old school charm, and the staff were very helpful with quick service. Plus there is an app to order drinks to save going to the bar.

Does theatre have booster cushions for chidren & do we need to book them

Hi Lyn, The theatre is laid out in a table and chairs format for most shows, and I am not sure if your are the same. I did not see Booster Cushions when we were there, so I would bring my own if I were you. If you are in the front row they probably wont need them. It is a fantastic little theatre and takes to back to the Variety and music hall days....enjoy
