Came as part of a "Green Tour" After a brief and concises introduction on the history of the complex from our guide, we were left to climb and explore the grounds on our own for a good half an hour. Except from a few fences closing off the steepest falls, one is allowed entrance to more or less all structurally... More

Amazing place although our guide ali battir said that Star Wars wasn't filmed here but the cones that are widely spread around the area inspired them to recreate the shapes of the rock formations for the movie. You have to be physically able to hike up the mountain to see the monastery . Lots of photographic opportunities ..unsuitable for kids... More

We were unlucky to visit it during heavy rain. It was impossible to continue to the top. But it was the more unforgettable. Plan ahead.

This was not the first monastic settlement I visited but it was definitely the most impressive. Don't miss it.

We were lucky and had nearby no other tourists when we visited this monastery. The rooms are incredible to see! You can really imagine how they lived here! Mosr of the rooms are connected with tunnels, witch you can take yourself. One church has two floors to visit. It's just a very cool place!

Even if less advertised than other locations in Cappadocia, Selime is an impressive rock complex made of a cathedral, churches, kitchens, winery, lodges.... all developed in vertical. The site mostly remains in its original shape and it is not crowded. The view from the top of the complex over the Fairy Chimneys reveals an incredible lunar landscape. Strongly suggested also... Unfortunately it is far away from the main attractions, but it sure is a hidden gem! It's up pretty high and requires some physical effort getting up there, but it's damn well worth it. You also get a pretty nice view up top.

The price of entry is included with the Ihlara Valley entry fee. However the ticket is only valid for one day, so if you want to do both you will need to plan your transportation accordingly.
