Mezni's Tunisian Restaurant
Jun 2016 • Friends
Wow just opened and such wonderful food, it can be as spicy as you like, the harrisa spice native to Tunisia has such a lovely taste with a little kick, the owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome and made the evening extra special.
And as an added bonus shisha pipes to relax with afterwards
Quaint pub, that has turned the back bar into a restaurant, the smoking area is relaxing and nicely done out for a change,
We will definitely go back

Just what we needed

The Five Bells has always been a friendly family pub. NOW it has a delicious Tunisian restaurant.

Cooking is delicate, spicing clever and subtle. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly as befits a family pub.

Highly recommended

Tunisia comes to Great Cornard
May 2016 • Couples
Mezni's Tunisian restaurant opened at the 5 Bells this weekend so we thought we'd go along and give it a try.

The back bar in the pub has been transformed into a cosy dining room. When we sat down we were bought a basket of bread, a garlic dip and some harrissa along with olives and salted popcorn to munch on while we looked at the menu.

We decided to share a starter and picked the mechouin salad. This was almost a dip and very tasty sprinkled with tuna flakes, hard-boiled eggs and black olives. For our main courses we chose the lamb couscous and the Tunisian Tajine - this reminded me of a frittata and I opted to have that with salad. The portions were good sizes and well flavoured, cooked and presented. As we were (almost) full by that point we shared a portion of baklava for dessert. One of them had been hand-made by the land-lady and was the out and out winner for us but they were all yummy. At the end of our meal we decided to go all out Tunisian and had a Shisha (Hubble bubble) pipe in the smoking area outside. There are cushioned sofa's to sit on and we enjoyed the apple shisha. Not including our drinks the bill was a very reasonable £40

If anyone has seen the signs outside and is thinking about eating here I would say give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Afternoon drink

We have eaten on a number of occasions and always had great service and lovely food. We decided to pop out for a drink and we sat on the terrace enjoying the peace and quiet.
