My family and I drove the 2 hours from La Fortuna for the 2 hour boat tour with Ernesto. He was a fantastic guide, slow and keenly observant. We saw caimans, basilisk lizards, many species of birds, monkeys, and even a sloth. We also saw many other tour boats rushing past us down and back that surely didn't see half... More

The name and location here seems a bit confusing. Perhaps they have an office in Los Chiles as well but we visited their little office for "Paraiso Tropical" near the boat launch in the town of Cano Negro. We had originally planned to book with the local cooperative in the town square as recommended in Lonely Planet but found that... More

We did a 7AM boat tour with Ernesto. It was a super fun trip and we got to see the usual suspects - caymans, trogons, vultures, northern jacana, cormorants, jesus christ lizards, toucans......The road to this place does not show up on google maps. We had to mark route Upala as final destination, keep looking for route 730 on route... More

After reading about this place on trip advisor we thought we would give them a call and see if they were available for a tour the next day. We spoke to Rosi and arranged to travel up the following morning. We drove our rental car there and the last 15km are hard work on gravel roads but well worth the... More

During our wonderful holiday trip to Costa Rica we visited one of the most stunning national parks, Cano Negro ! This park is a true gem if you love to spot animals. We came in contact with a local guide who had a small tourist info office (see picture) this man was truly amazing! The tour we did with him... More

Both Joel Sandoval and his wife Rosi Arguedas are very nice and helpful people who also speak very good English. If you really want to see the Cano Negro then come to them rather than taking a tour and starting from Los Chiles as the actual wetland does not start there. Reaching Cano negro is not easy and the last... More

A nice relaxing two hour river tour. Our guide was Joel Sandoval. He also conducts river fishing services. We saw various wild life, Cayman's, Monkey's, Birds, Turtles, Water Walking Lizards, Iguanas and more. It was mid week so not many people around, We had the boat to ourselves. Next trip will include the fishing excursion for Tarpon, Bass and Gar.... More

We arranged a last minute boat trip, which was possible thanks to Rosi's quick response. The boat trip at Caño Negro lasted for almost three hours (more than the promised two hours) and our enthusiastic guide showed us many different types of birds, caymans and turtles. We even saw a Cayman eating an iguana. Amazing value for money and very... More

Our guide Rosi took us on a private boat trip on the river. She knew everything about all the animals we saw and we saw lots of them! She discovered lots of birds, caiman and monkeys for us. She explained about the history of the park and the village and how they are trying to survive given the problems they... More

We had an extra day to spend in the Mt Arenal area, and had read about Cano Negro as a day tour from there. We considered the organized tours from La Fortuna, but they were starting very early in the morning and were quite steeply priced. Since we had our own car, we preferred the option of driving on our... More
