Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Particularly if you're staying in Kastraki, this was a nice surprise. Normally I would skip a place like this, but we had a few hours to kill before checking out. Free entry and it was nice to get a little insight to the karst formations. Good Cafe next door too

I visited this museum in conjunction with a nice hike in the area as I was curious how the surrounding area was formed. I couldn’t have asked for a more appropriate museum to answer my questions. I found the displays to be extremely informative, thoroughly relevant and easy to comprehend from a non- science person’s perspective. The staff is quite friendly and the setting is great - right in the center of Kastraki with the rock monoliths of Meteora towering above.

If you come to a place like Meteora you've got to wonder about how... when... why it formed the way it did. This little museum in the rather neat and charming village of Kastraki tells you lots about it in nice, non-technical bite-size chunks. Nicely laid out, two informative videos, lots of mineral exhibits and fossils, and a helpful and charming lady running the place and providing background information when we got there. Parking within yards, but big-ish steps to get up to enter. There's a lift, though, once inside.

I thoroughly enjoyed this museum - more than I expected to. It's great, and well worth an hour of your life. Oh, and it's free to enter.

I recommend the visit of this small and local museum, which explains well the geological formation of the Meteora site.
The visit took us a small hour to read each sign.

Small modern museum that explains how the stone pillars came to exist. Also some nice mineral samples. Worth a visit especially if you are already in Kastraki.

This charming little find is a good museum for learning how the rock formations came to be here in Kastraki. It won't take very long to go through and enjoy the exhibits, so don't pass this one by.

This explains how the extraordinary rock formations came about a long time ago. It gave more to contemplate while seeing the huge rock piles while walking up to the monasteries from the town.
