About
The Boryeong Mud Festival is one of Korea's most well known and popular festivals in Korea. Every year the sleepy coastal town is transformed into a literal mudfest that attracts millions annually who come to have fun playing with the fine coastal mud which is touted as being rich with minerals and other excellent qualities. Giant mud baths, mud slides, games, and a slew of activities are set up for fun that continues through the day and into the night. You can even purchase cosmetics and other goods made from the Boryeong mud to take home as a souvenir for your memorable time.

Had a blast playing in the mud. I went on a Sunday which was perfect and not crowded the lines weren’t long. But I have a foot injury and most of the things they had were mud wrestling and I couldn’t participate, just wish they had more mud throwing, slides, and activities for the broken people like me. They also had a talent show at night which I did not enjoy at all maybe it’s because I’m not used to those kind of things where I’m from. But all together I enjoyed my time.

Fun Festival
Aug 2016 • Friends
Korea loves festivals and this one was a blast! There is a mud zone where you can paint yourself with the famous Boryeong mud that is supposed to make your skin amazing. It is on the beach so you can wash off in the ocean after. They also provide lockers, and you can buy mud proof bags to put valuables in. Truth be told it is a giant party. Only downside was getting a taxi home after. No one wanted us in their cab...probably for good reason.

Boryeong beauty

A wonderful experience. Six of us went to Boryeong from India, for the mud festival. We were there for three days, played the mud games, attended concerts, face paints, and bought the mud cosmetics.

A smaller area than I imagined, but very well managed.

Just got back from the 2016 Mudfest and it was awesome. Great tan, lots of sun and sand, super friendly people, good family fun, amazing entertainment and lots of mud. The motel was right across the street from the beach and a couple of blocks from the entertainment. You could hear the entertainment down the block. The only downfall was there weren't alot of late night "fast food/ grab n go" style food places but that's more of the Korean culture. Highly recommended to try at least once. Cheap train and bus fair. Book your lodging reservations asap because fees will triple or bring a tent and camp on the beach. Lots of public toilets and showers for the out-of-towners. Humid during the day with the nice cool water and perfect at night with the breeze from the beach. A definite must try if you're in the area.

Mud activity zone is small
Jul 2016 • Friends
Like many things in Korea, they hype just doesn't quite live up to the reality of the experience. The mud activity zone is so small that you queue for hours to take part in any of the activities. There are no cordons/ropes/ markers out so you don't really know what you're queueing for!

Having said this, the beach itself is lovely and there's a great atmosphere. The live music and families made the event feel very welcoming. Be warned, as evening falls, there are lots of very drunk people around- may not be ideal for kids.

I was mad at the "mud" bathroom!

The mud festival was okay, and the content was not bad. However, bathrooms in the festival were extremely disgusting. It was terrible....

Boryeong Mud Festival!
Jul 2015 • Friends
This place is a great beach because it's really sandy and clean, but one of the greatest attractions would be the Boryeong Mud Festival held annually. Equipped with many different blown-up games that you can play with friends while doused in mud, it is great fun for the entire family as well as friends.

On top of that, the mud is known to be good for your skin. Of course, with less people it would be less queuing time for you and more chances to play the different games available. Though, a little bit of the fun comes from throwing mud water on other people and getting mud water thrown on you as well!

By far one of the most fun festivals attended!

Daecheon beach and Boryeong Mud Festival
Jul 2014 • Couples
Me and my friend recently went to the 17th Mud Festival and it was amazing!

We've been hearing about it for years and finally went.

The location of the festival is amazing as it is right on the bed of the Daecheon beach.
The mud festival was fun! lots of koreans and foreigners, enjoying many rides and the vibe.
