The visit is about 2 kilometers on metal stairs and ways through different rooms of the cave. The scenery is really not spectacular and the multi colored lightning is flashy.

I took the monorail up and walked down. The cave is huge and impressive. I love caves though. I picked a good day because there were times when I was by myself in the cave. This cave is not a guided tour like the other...More

The area with all the mountains is very pretty. The cave itself is also nice and massive, just a bit crowded for my taste. I visited here during the national holiday Chuseok, so that might be a reason for it to be so popular that...More

Hwanseon Cave is well worth visiting. Be warned that the hike to the cave from the parking area is a substantial undertaking, and is not suitable for the elderly or unfit. It is certainly not something most people should attempt on a hot day. On...More

Each of the commercial caves we have visited has been very different. This cave has very large passages and rooms, and the usual Korean stainless walkways everywhere. We comfortably toured the cave in about 45 minutes. The entrance walk is either a quite steep walk...More

This cave was a nice half day outing from Samcheok. I walked from the bus stop to the monorail, and rode up on it, which saves a long-ish uphill walk. The thing that is interesting about the cave is the size of it and the...More

This is by far the largest cave I have seen. Internally the path was well constructed and hence it made the walk a pleasant, organised and easy one. We went in summer but we understood that the floor might be slippery in winter and hence...More

I can only answer the first part of the question, as I didn't stay in Samcheok: I don't think young kids would get a lot out of this cave. There is a LOT of climbing up and down stairs, and the interior route takes at least... More
