First time to Kaiping. I learnt about this place from TV. It is a nice place.. 2 towers were opened for public. The towers were built about 100 years ago. Chinese people who went to US for work returned to build this.. The ground is about 1m from ground, the purpose is to avoid flood. The roof floor is for... More

It was so so, there are a group of houses built around 1920-1930, not too old, not too new. I personally do not feel so special about these architechture, not inspiring enough... The village is clean and there are signboards in English everywhere, so it is pleasant.

After taking the 8.55 bus from the bus terminal across the street from Guangzhou train station, we arrived in Kaiping at 10.30. When exiting the bus station from the main entrance, men with scooters, cabs, "black cabs", and riksjas came up to us to sell us a tour. We settled with a riksja driver for CNY400 for the entire day... More

I went to Kaiping on a sunny day, and it was beautiful. Rent a taxi or minivan to drive you around the villages and climb the watchtowers for an amazing view.

I visited with friends to Kaiping one hour by car from central Guangzhou. There are great historical buildings mixed European&Chinese culture. This area is world heritage. Here is very good to feel culture. To visit there, one day travel is OK.

My mom is from the area and the watch towers are cool considering that they are European themed. Mainly they are on the outskirts of Kaiping

I travelled solo with a Chinese guide to Kaiping to see the dialou. This trip is highly recomended if you are in Guangzhou. It takes about 2 and half hours to get there and longer to get back if you get caught in peak traffic but it's so worth it. Eat at Home Restaurant for the freshest food you can... More

Kaiping is a good place to be if you live in Guangzhou or nearby. Its like a farm with many Green áreas. The towers are divided in "parks" some of then are more developed then others. In fact , you can see the towers randomly on the streets but going to a park makes you more "inside" the mood.
