About
Giving visitors a chance to see Wiltshire’s best kept secret from the comfort of a Luxury off-road vehicle. Groups of up to six guests are able to visit Salisbury Plain and the surrounding areas, taking small highways and off road tracks that are inaccessible to the usual tour buses and taxis. As a licenced private hire company we are able to pick up and drop off guests at a given location, for example your Guesthouse or Salisbury City Centre. From here our enthusiastic explorers are whisked off for a fun filled tour of Europe’s largest chalk grassland. Our tours will include visits to sites of archaeological interest such as the 4000 yr. old hill fort Casterly Camp, as well as trips to see the extensive military encampments in the area and on selected days, trips across the firing ranges to see the shattered hulks of tanks used for target practice. Add in the chance to see rare wildlife such as Great Bustards or Stone Curlews and spectacular views and you have a fascinating experience that will be one of the highlights of your trip. Typically we offer tours in either a 2 or 4 hour format for up to 6 guests and all tours include refreshments (An English picnic on the longer tours).

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

James didn’t even bother showing up, messaged me after our meet time and claimed he’d double booked himself. I explained we’d had to travel to the area and had family from Yorkshire with us. It was a treat for my husband’s birthday, which was totally ruined. We were financially compensated, quite generously, but that didn’t alter the fact it was too late to book anything else and the day was a right off.

Dear Sally, In this case I can only hold my hands up to an honest mistake. I had indeed double booked myself and had not noticed until right at the last minute, I was running an event for a local charity. This shouldn’t have happened and I will do better in future. The compensation i offered was the least I could do. As a sole trader without me the tours cannot run and so I had no alternative. As seen from my other reviews I work hard to deliver a great experience for my guests, this time, for the first time in 8 years I failed. You and your guests have my sincere apologies.

This was a birthday gift for my husband along with sister and brother in law.

James was an excellent tour guide. His breadth of knowledge of the area, wildlife and military was amazing, and his love and enthusiasm for the area was obvious. We were lucky to have a beautiful summer day for our tour but I can imagine it would also be amazing in other weather.

The scale of the scenery is breathtaking, real "big sky" views from one end of Wiltshire to the other from various high points, James also gave us different perspectives on parts of the route we had been on ourselves. He gave us all the things we had asked for on our wish list and more - bustards, history/archaeology and military. We also had a fun few minutes over some bumpy splashy bits which was great fun.

Would wholeheartedly recommend and would also love to go again at the different time of the year. Fantastic!!!

Perfect safari, expertly tailored to meet our requests. James is a great host and found us cracking views of great bustards displaying and in flight, as well as just strutting their stuff. Also saw barn owl, roe deer and hen harrier as well as the usual birds we’d expect in that area

This experience was a Birthday present and I can really recommend it. The local knowledge that James has shows immediately, he really does know Salisbury Plain like the back of his hand. He takes time to highlight both the physical landscapes but also the native wildlife. Interesting to see the Army playing war games, but from a safe distance. Thank You 😊

Great family day out that entertained an age range from eight to 78. Expansive views of the surrounding country side, a knowledge and friendly guide, combined with plenty of muddy/wet 4x4 off road driving. We live locally and enjoyed seeing a different side to Salisbury Plains.

Really informative trip with James - he tailored the tour to our interests and was exceptionally knowledgeable. We had two hours in the landrover and learnt about the military, geological and agricultural history of the Plain. Due to time of year wildlife and fauna were more limited.
