The Abbaye is quite lovely, with several levels -- including the original basement. There's also a marble museum inside. A nice diversion, easily done in an hour.

For a couple of mobility challenged seniors, this was a difficult walk up to the abbey, especially in the heat. The communion rail made of red veined marble in the chapel was nice. No time to go to the crypt, but otherwise there was not...More

L'Abbaye de Caunes Minervois is the main attraction of this pretty village. The visit is very well planned and the church is very well restored. There is also a 'marble' museum in the abbaye. It depicts mainly the red marble of the area. Very interesting.

We enjoyed spending a few hours exploring the Abbaye. It is a lovely building and worth visiting if you stay in Caunes-Minervois.

Very interesting and beautiful Abbey in this quaint little village. A beuatiful sunny day enjoying the sights. As it happened, there was a Smurf exhibition on during our visit. Quite bizarre but also very interesting.

Its not particularly spectacular but it is well worth a visit if you have an hour to kill in the town. There was also an exhibition on Peyo as the abbey has some kind of relationship with a cartoon museum in Belgium.

This abbey sits in a rather remote location and we weren't expecting much. Surprisingly, the church was beautiful, on par with some of the big churches we have seen around Europe and it was decorated with the lovely red-veined marble that is mined locally. We...More
