For over 55 years I have wanted to visit the birthplace of my boyhood idol, John Paul Jones. March 2017 I finally did. While there I fulfilled another dream, I proposed to my love Monique who said "YES". The staff at the museum were so...More

Always meant to visit here, just got round to it.The informative video you watch at the beginning was very dated, rather amusing (though unintentionally) in 'Blackadder- esque' style. The rest of that part of the museum has the information you have just been told in...More

There is a good film of the life of John Paul Jones which brings his achievements to life. It is an atmospheric place to visit.

Fascinating museum tucked away on the fringes of Kirkbean. Lots of information on JPJ and the area where he was born.

We had a wonderful visit to the museum. Robert was very welcoming and informative. We also appreciated the chance to sit in the well kept gardens and admire the view as we had an ice cream. We especially liked that this venue was dog friendly.

We were able to obtain a great deal of info for our friends who in turn are extremely pleased. We found it interesting having also been to Whitehaven across the Solway where John Paul Jones had also been.

What an amazing little museum! I was totally unaware of the story of John Paul Jones, founder of the American Navy. There are plenty of documents, models and an informative video presentation on the life of John Paul Jones plus his home is conveniently located...More
