Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brilliant lucky find - totally free to visit but we did end up donating as you can't NOT do once you see the amazing interior! Bought some books from the little stall inside - we were the only ones there and it felt so special and lovely. Will most definitely be back!

Howden is a stunning little gem of a place, beautiful old buildings and charming shops, all pivoting round this suprise of a half ruined minster. Such a romantic place.

Came to Howden specially to visit the Minster and it didn’t disappoint. I thought it was all a shell but you can actually go inside and it’s a beautiful place. Well worth a visit. Parking nearby only a few minutes walk away.

Lovely historic Minster plus ruins, still in use as the Town’s parish Church and the buildings under English Heritage’ care. Well worth a visit, although at present only outside unless you go to a service.

Originally founded pre 1066, the buildings date from 1270-1320. The Prince Bishops of Durham (a great power in the medieval North) used Howden as their base to avoid the difficult journey to Durham, staying within reasonable reach of London. Henry VIII had a good go at it, which is the reason for the ruins!

Howden is a pretty little historic town, well worth a wander and the Market Square shops sell a great ice cream!

Definitely easily overlooked. Must see it if your in the Howden area. But it's so easy to miss. Shame we weren't able to see inside.

Make sure you visit Howden if you are heading to the east coast around Hull. Take the time to explore the Minster. Amazing photo opportunities, lovely coffee shops in the town. Parking can be quite restricted.
