Beautiful, peaceful lake. Warm, clear water. Good place for all ages. Our 1 year old was very happy toddling around. The only disappointment is that if you want to go for a walk you're slightly limited to the beach part.

We were staying in Orté - but wanted to swim without driving to the coast. This find was a treasure. I'd suggest taking the time to find locals and ask where the best public swim beach is - but we simply drove into the private...More

Pure, transparent water in this ancient volcanic crater makes it the best place to swim near Rome. I've never seen it too crowded like the sea beaches get in Italy. There are restaurants serving fresh lake fish (pike-lucio, perch-persico, whitefish-coregone) in many delicious ways, right...More

Surrounded by wild and step cliff covert by cool forest. You could wall around looping to avoid summer hot or looping for wildilife. Having a gourmet experience in one of the excellent restaurant laing on the lake shore or biking along several MTB track....a pearl...More

Fresh and quiet a hot summer day. The lake is situated in a volcanic crater so the beach has black volcanic sand. Less crowded than the sea. There are a couple of nice trattorias by the shore.

It's a gorgeous lake with views that stagger... and if you have lunch at the restaurant that flanks the main beach; you'll be treated to the eerily human sounding Mynah bird that greets guests with his cheery CIAO!

The lake partly fills a volcanic crater and is surrounded by unspoilt forest with plenty of scenic walks.
