An impressive statue, standing in a lovely part of the country, in Helmsdale, with wonderful views up the Strath of Kildonan and out to sea.

It's easy to miss coming from the south as it just hits you and you may be better parking in the village and walking up to it.

Learn more about the sad local history of Clearances. The monumnet was funded by locals and descendants of immigrants to Canada and US. There are informative plaques around the monument describing a bit of local history, as well as one about a local castle that...More

Wanted to see this statue, but it is not signposted, yet there is a car park built for it just south of town over the bridge. It is on the town trail if you have the time
