    Really enjoyed Winter Glow!
Really enjoyed Winter Glow! I went to this event with a friend and we weren’t sure what to expect but we were both pleasantly surprised. Some reviews are saying it was pricey but compared to others I have been to, I thought it was good value. The lights were great and it wasn’t too busy that you couldn’t stop to enjoy and take photos etc, which is an issue at others (I live in London where everything like this is always so crowded!) The stalls were sweet and reasonably priced gifts plus the food we had was all lovely and decent quality. I didn’t bring my children on this trip but I think they would have loved it and would bring them back. We also enjoyed a ride on the ferris wheel (first big wheel ride in years so very nostalgic!) we didn’t do the ice skating but the rink looked a decent size and not too overcrowded. I recommend it.

    The perfect Christmas event
The perfect event to get into the Christmas spirit! The light trail was amazing, with lots of photo opportunities and seemed to go on forever. Really enjoyed the food options too (the Yorkshire pudding wrap was delicious). There was something for everyone, I would highly recommend.

Wonderful festive family experience at Winter Glow
We have been to WG the past 3 years, and it just keeps getting better. A large well, planned site with plenty of parking and facilities. Inside it is so festive filled with lights, trees and plentiful seating. The staff, from stewards in the car park to the elves are so polite and really engaging with the children. We went ice skating and the push-along aids mean the rink is so much fun for children age 3+, they make sure to not overbook so there is space to enjoy the ice. After there are multiple food/drink vendors and a market, the fair has got even bigger with the trademark light-up wheel. The layout means everything is easily accessible and there are minimal queues (if any!). The light trail has so many different parts and great for photos, and is suitable for children in strollers. What bowled us over is the Santa experience, SNOW, there is a whole building set out like an elf village, with singing reindeer, post box and area to write letters, workshop filled with toys where you can also do crafts with the elves (I couldn't get my son off the air hockey game), then you can decorate gingerbread with Mrs Claus and have mulled wine and hot chocolate (included), also there is a wonderful area with circus toys and my children spend a good half hour hula-hooping and being shown how to juggle plates by the lovely man (elf) that is obviously very skilled. These are large spaces decorated to a really high standard. Then when you do get to see Santa, both the man in red and Sparkles the elf are great characters, they don't rush you in and out, you have plenty of time to talk and because of clever planning each child is named by Santa and he shares facts about them which is so special. You can get professional photos done or they offer to take them on your mobile which is really thoughtful. We spent a good 3/4 hours there and you could easily make a day of it.

    Winter Glow 2023
I had lots of fun at Winter Glow 2023. I went on the very first day and I had the light trail to myself at times. There is more walking involved than other light trails I've been on but I think that would probably stop it seeming too busy. Having been to Winter Glow previously, I did notice a repeat of a few light installations but overall it was a very pleasant evening. Ice skating was fun.

    A perfect winter magical experience
It was a fun filled magical experience. The ice skating experience was fantastic. The rides were a great addition and we all had fun. The rides catered to all age groups. The light trail was great. There were several food options to choose from and the overall experience was just a perfect evening out. We’d highly recommend this experience. It was really well organised and well thought through for all age groups.

    Winter Glow
Winter Glow is incredible! The light trail is the best I've ever seen and we also loved the ice skating. There are plenty of food stalls available plus a christmas market, all reasonable priced.

Fun, Christmassy and great for the family.
Always a brilliant experience at the Winter Glow. Friendly, well organised and gets you in the mood for Christmas. We enjoyed ice skating and free aids for little ones, who haven't skated before which was great! We enjoyed a delicious burger and some chicken gyros and donuts before heading onto the amazing light trail! Make sure you wrap up warm and get prepared to ask to go on rides in the festive fare! All in all a lovely evening out.

Amazing fun for all the family
We had a wonderful evening at Winter Glow. I visited with my husband and two children age 7 and 9. This was the first time we’d visited and were blown away with how visually gorgeous the space was, how well thought out the layout was, and how there was so much to do that would suit all age groups. We followed the enchanted light trail and had some fun ice skating. We had some delicious food (the crumble and custard was my fave) and bought a few gifts from the Christmas market. The kids even had some fun on some fairground rides. Importantly, everything was fully accessible for wheel chair users, push chairs and spacious enough for anyone with sensory needs too. This was something that was very noticeable and we appreciated this. Genuinely a fun Christmas experience, we will be back next year!

    A wonderful family experience
We went to Winter Glow for the first time this year and it was such a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and there was lots of variety, the market has lots of lovely gifts, and the ice skating was great fun. We took our little girl on the lights trail and she was fascinated by all the different lights and there was even a lady there to take pictures for you, a lovely touch. We didn't go to Santa's Grotto but it looked amazing. We will definitely return and do the Grotto next time.

    Family Christmas memories
Always such an incredible place to go yearly with the family. We enjoyed the light trail and ice skating. My 3 year old got to enjoy skating with us this year which he spent grinning and laughing throughout and still asks to go “skiing” again! I highly recommend to go as a family.

Had a great time today for the kids first Santa experience and light show. Santa was great making the kids laugh and knew what they wanted to Xmas! Light show was lovely - wrap up warm as it’s chilly at this time of year. Managed to get a ticket for observation wheel which was great, but ice skating was fully book. Looked good though so may try to book that another day.

Paid over £150 ( 4 adults) and visited with the two Grandkids. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. So disappointed. Market stalls were limited and what was there was poor quality. There were a few food stalls which were expensive and the tables to eat, although empty, were dirty and full of rubbish. Santa was very engaging with the kids and probably the best part of the experience but the rest of the area was a real let down! As for the fun fair .. well what can I say??? Only 3 rides and even the only one that was for toddlers (ours was 18 months) and required an adult to supervise charged for the adult too - a total of £8 a ride - what a rip off! The Light show was ok although it poured with rain and we all got soaked. Save your money as I’m sure it could be better spent elsewhere:(

Excellent Saturday skating session at Winter Glow. Located in one if the barns at the 3 counties showground but it has been tastefully decorated with Christmas trees and lights. There is plenty of seating and viewing areas in the cafe section. They sell toasties and mince pies, with a variety of hot and cold drinks. it is cold but you are at an ice rink, its expected!
The skate session was excellent, plenty of skates and skate aids. There were 'proper' skates to fit my 4 year old so he was happy. The ice rink itself is real ice which is brilliant, not the weird plastic stuff you get at some pop up rinks. The marshals were quick to attend if you fall, they don't have high vis but are the only ones in their own skates. Both of my children built confidence on the ice and enjoyed being pushed on the aid or using it as support. We even got a sneak peek at the princesses and captain America (who were in the session after ours) as they skated with the public whilst we had a coffee. A fantastic afternoon and 2 sleepy boys on the way home.

My husband an I booked a visit to winter glow to see Santa and to go on the observation wheel as a treat for our 2 children. We booked for 24th December thinking that it would be all festive and get us in the Christmas mood. How totally wrong were we!!! I can not begin to explain how disappointed we were. To start with the car park attendant shouted at us for parking in the wrong place, even though we were not directed where to park so we just parked next to the car in front of us. Then on arrival whilst my daughter an I went to the toilet my husband was told half of the market was shut as they had sold out. We were still optimistic at this point that we could have a good few hours out. On entering the market/food court it was obvious that most things were shut an I really felt like we had walked into a closed event, not an exciting Christmas experience. We headed to the observation wheel for our 11am booking, where the staff were extremely unfriendly a didn’t bother to wave at my excited 7 year old. The ride was late opening a probably lasted about 7 minutes. We were unable to see out of the gondola due to the plastic sheeting on the outside, very uninspiring for children. After that I asked at the Santa shed if we could move our time slot as we weren’t booked until 13.40 (it was now only about 11.20) they graciously accommodated us. I spoke with one of the events team to voice my disappointment however felt that they weren’t bothered as we had already paid. Santa was lovely and the children enjoyed it, I however do not think that it justified the best part of £80! We were unable to spend the day there as advertised due to the lack of food options, market stalls and highchairs!! It is an event aimed at children with very few highchairs, totally inappropriate.

I have left there feeling totally cheated out of my money and disappointed that this is how I have spent my Christmas Eve.

Ice Skating. I just wanted to say how much we REALLY enjoyed the skating session last weekend.

We have been to outdoor popup rinks all over the country over the last 13 years or so (mainly Cribbs) and it’s become our family Christmas tradition – even though we can only just about stay on our feet!
After missing out last year, I’ve been keeping my eye out for something special this year. I heard about your event via an email as we’ve been to a few events at the Showground and I’m on the mailing list.

I was worried that an indoor rink wouldn’t have the same atmosphere (feel like skating in a warehouse!) but what you have done is truly magical. We had a wonderful time. The staff were all really friendly – from security on the front gate (letting us know about the toilets!) and the guys in the little tent as you turn the corner – not too overbearing but enough to make you feel safe.

The guys on the shoe/skate counter were lovely – Jack (8) was given two left feet skates by accident (wasn’t their fault – they were both marked with the same number so a mix up somewhere, maybe two right ones hanging around!) but they fixed it straight away and we had a little laugh about it.

The man on the gate to the rink was also very smiley and encouraging.

And a huge shout out to the lady on the café counter. So friendly and kind – offering a candy cane to the boys – even the teenager who gets overlooked nowadays for little treats like that.

If I could give a negative review I would. I have spent almost £100 to attend the event this December. My child received a free children’s entry code from his school after I purchased tickets.
I contacted winter glow and asked if I could be refunded his entry ticket (gave them the ticket code etc)
For them to tell me no, it can only be redeemed in their “quiet period” and I would have to purchase another adult ticket for my child to use his ticket and go AGAIN 2 weeks later.
I pointed out I am not going to go the exact same event less than two weeks after I’d already been and I am not purchasing a further ticket.
Disgusting they can’t honour a small child’s free ticket when a family has spent so much to attend their event.

Thank you for your feedback. As parents themselves, our founders understand the challenges of entertaining kids of varying ages during the Christmas holidays once the excitement of the big day is over. This is why we opted to give away 20,000 free tickets to local school children in order to give parents the option of a cheaper visit to Winter Glow during the school Christmas holidays for either our light trail or ice skating. As you have mentioned in your review, you booked with and visited us two weeks before the school holidays therefore the ticket was not redeemable for the date on which you had booked. We also make it explicitly clear in both our terms and conditions and at time of purchase, that all tickets are non refundable, which is an industry standard. Many families took this opportunity to attend the event multiple times this year as they'd enjoyed the attractions on offer and had you wanted to come back during the school Christmas holidays, the free ticket would most certainly have been honoured. As this review was written more than two months before your visit, we hope that you did in fact enjoy your time at Winter Glow and that the event met all expectations.

Expensive for what it was! Lights were pretty but sparse. I have been to events similar to this before and this is no where near as good. Was not Christmasy in the slightest. Took us about 25 mins to walk around, my toddler fell asleep! More attractions needed as this could be much more of a special event. Food also over priced. As you had to pay for everything separately- big wheel, light trail, ice skating etc makes for an expensive day!
Save your money and go elsewhere.

We have attended Winter Glow every year since it opened and it just gets better and better every year. This year the lights were amazing, my children 6 and 8 loved walking around them. We always start our Christmas festivities off with a visit which definitely gets us in the Christmas spirit. The ice skating is the best around, we have tired a few others but this is definitely the best, its more spacious, and has lots of helpful staff around to help out if needed. We love how the market and food hall has grown as this has made it even better. Its definitely a must do Christmas event for us and we look forward to returning in 2024.

I want to email to basically to complain about our visit today.

We started off with the ice skating that was meant to be ‘princess themed’. There was no whale aids on my booking, apparently, that I had actually booked. Therefore myself, my husband and three year old daughter watched while the session went on until eventually ‘the guy in mustard’ who everyone kept telling me to talk to about it actually did come and speak to me. In the end my daughter got 10 mins on the ice, but I had to stay on the side as I had no aid that I had booked. He did say he would give me a refund and took my details…. There was three other family’s in a similar situation. He blamed the booking system?!

We then spent 2 hours bored in a very windy cold area, with nothing really to do. The tent had heaters but they wernt on. The tv was playing films with no sound, that frustrated my freezing cold child even more.

We then proceeded to go into what we thought was the light trail we booked. The guy didn’t even look at my ticket and didn’t seem to understand me anyway. Just let us through. We waited. In the freezing cold. To eventually realise after half an hour that we where in the que to get on a train to see Santa. That we hadn’t even paid for. I’m actually really pleased I didn’t as most of the customers getting off the train said it was awful! And far from personalised.

So then we went off to what looked like the entrance to the light show. The kid on the gate said that it was the second part. By this time we where all so annoyed and cold that we just started with that bit and missed the part inside. It wasn’t festive at all…. It was poorly lit for a light show! My husband actually tripped over a few times holding my daughter as by this time she really didn’t want to walk.

All in all this was a very poorly organised event with hardly any decent festive activity’s. We have come away bankrupt and probably will all have the flu!

Will never be booking again and think we deserve more than just the ice skate refunded!
