The ultimate arctic experience and at minus 10 degrees IceBar Melbourne is...

The ultimate arctic experience and at minus 10 degrees IceBar Melbourne is definitely the coolest place in town and the only venue of its kind in Australia.

The IceBar is made from over 30 tonnes of sculpted ice where the walls, tables, chairs and even the bar is made of ice! The current theme at IceBar Melbourne is ‘creatures and monsters’ and features a 3 tonne ice dragon that welcomes you upon entry into the ice interior.

During your stay at the IceBar you are provided with a snow cape and gloves to keep you as snug as a bug in a rug and it’s the most fun you can have with (lots of) clothes on!

It can take over 40 man-hours to cut and sculpt just one figure within the IceBar and it took just on 6 months to freeze enough ice for the creation of this amazing venue.

The IceBar isn’t just for grown-ups; kids are welcome every day from 10am to 7pm making it a unique outing for the whole family to enjoy. While adults are offered a selection of icy cocktails, kids can enjoy fruity drinks whilst being provided with customised capes and gloves.

IceBar Melbourne will turn an experience from memorable into unforgettable, so be sure to add a visit to your ‘to see list’ whilst in Melbourne.

We went to the Ice Bar in the afternoon filling our day with as much as possible on such a short 3 day trip. It really didn't fill much time in as there's not much in there. If... read more

Went there with a friend and could not believe the cost of going in somewhere we thought would be really unique and individual. The ice sculptures were good but it is literally one room and u get what is barely passable as a cocktail included in the price. Complete waste of time and money. The girls working there were proper... More

I can't see how you can comment on the IceBar as being a rip off, have you been to the movies lately? Considering that you receive a cocktail with two shots included and the price includes your ski gear hire and that there is over 30 tonnes of ice that needs to be maintained at -10 degrees. Clearly you have... More

This has always been something I had wanted to do, but since I'm in an electric wheelchair I wasn't sure if that would ever be an option for me. I called them in advance, and to my surprise they told me it wasn't a problem that they would make sure that there was enough room for me to get in.... More

Daughter wanted to make this visit in Melbourne since the drinking age is 18. We landed a tourist guide coupon and did the one shot, one drink. The drinks were amazing, but can't mention the drink names.... What amazed me was two 19 year old women were running this business by themselves and did a better job than adults running... More

Friendly staff at this ice bar. Interesting ice sculptures to view, and various drinks to be sampled. The location issues you with warm clothing, gloves and footwear as required, to deal with the cold. Must be nice to visit on very hot days.

The bar is smaller than we expected. Having said that, I think if you go with a group of folks, you could have a fun time. The price is high for what you get. Also, you cannot take your own photos in the room, but there are only 2 cameras in the room for you to use. They are fixed... More

Very nice bar and staff are friendly. It is abit expensive for entry and you don't get any folders with photos you need to download them yourself. Location is good

I booked for my young daughters and myself on Bookme.com and was running late (under half an hour), so as a courtesy, called the bar to let them know. I was told by the owner "bad luck" and I could only enter if I bought new tickets when I arrived. I offered to forfeit the drinks as my daughters just... More

It is a nice bar, but there are many great and fantastic bars in Melbourne. This place is over priced and over rated. The staff were not that helpful or friendly. I would give it a miss.

We visited in December. Before entering, we asked about the size of the place from the girl at the reception. She said it can accommodate 40 people, which is a BIG lie!!! Utterly disappointing as if she did not lie, we would have gone back without entering the venue. It was very tiny, more like a freezer than a bar.... More

Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
